Nope. G has the best contract in the league. K is great but his type generally has a shirt half life.

The value is there

However everyone knows it wouldn't happen

They're both superstars, and quite frankly you can't replace their loss to their respective teams...

Neither team would have any real reason to do this.

Given his age and the way he controls a game, I really think there is not another player in the league I would trade him for straight up (including Crosby). I never enjoyed watching Senator games but now you cant help watch with him playing. People say both teams wouldn't do this but I have a feeling Holmgren and 28 other gms would.

I would have to switch my favorite teams.

Seriously, we like Karlsson in Ottawa despite the criticisms from the outside.

That is correct. Last years Norris was the first of many. He controls a game like noone else. Every time he is on the ice he creates chances. Yes you have that correct, I would not trade Karlsson for Crosby straight up.

Well that is a very small minority viewpoint, and very homerish. Brian Murray would trade BOTH Karlsson and Spezza, and a few first rounders to get Crosby.

He is actually a Montreal fan BUT as we all know superstars usually return 3 quarters and a couple dimes for a dollar cause they are so hard to find , IF for some reason both players demanded a trade and HAD to be moved at the same time it is about as even as it could get. Giroux would be Ottawas new favorite player and phili would all now adore Karlsson , but I have a feeling both retire with their respective teams.

Fairly confident that he would not. Want to know why? Because that'd make Ottawa a MUCH worse team.

Yeah 3.75M is a steal for Giroux.

On the flip side, Karlsson recently signed for 7 years while Giroux's contact expires after the following season. They each have their own advantage.

From an outsiders perspective, I would take Karlsson by a substantial margin. Giroux is fantastic and all, but I think Karlsson is at another level.

Obviously, just my opinion.

The trade is not just a Giroux for Karlsson swap. Just saying.

Like the other guy said i am not a sens fan. If you would consider Weber, Doughty, Pietrangelo and Chara/Keith/Suter to round out the top 5 defenceman in the game, I have a feeling that by the time the guy is 30 he will have 5-6 Norris trophies. He won his first at 22 and when does a Defenceman usually hit their prime ( maybe around 28-30 ). Defensively he's underrated, because he's never out of position and he reads the play so well. Offensively he led all defenceman by 25 pts last year. The only defenceman to that in a long time was Coffey but once he was away from Gretzky and company that stopped quickly. Again i am not a sens fan but the last 5-6 games I watched him play he was by far the best player on the ice.

Man Giroux has tainted his reputation around here a bit because of his slow start.

I don't think the captaincy is for him.

As far as the trade goes, it should be a non-starter for the Sens to even entertain the idea of trading Karlsson.

When a deal involves these two players, the rest of the pieces are insignificant. Don't really want Mez back either.

Let's wait an see if he ever even gets a 2nd Norris

Giroux is a top center, and if we didn't have Spezza, I'd think long and hard about a swap.

I wouldn't either. Factoring in health, age, contract status, skill, and likeability (lol). Karlsson has got the Norris on lockdown for the next decade. One of the best players I've ever seen. I'd take Erik over anyone.

Love Giroux, but Karlsson makes all the difference. Although the Flyers can possibly spare Giroux and still dominate, we just can't lose Karlsson. It would take a massive overpayment

I don't mean this as a slight towards Giroux or Philly fans neither. Giroux is awesome and I'd give a right nut to have him in Montreal. But Karlsson just seems to stand out over everyone. It's like he's in a top gear all the time with no effort.
