Bourn isn't very good. Good luck with that signing. I believe they also have to give a pick to the Braves, correct?

What do they do with Brantley though?

Unless Stubbs is their 4OF, I'm guessing Swisher is their DH.

I would like this a lot better if kept Choo and used the money wasted on Swisher on a couple of players.

Yeah it's not like Brantley is any good or anything...

Bourn can earn $60M max. #Indians will lose competitive-balance pick, approximately No. 71 overall. They forfeited 2nd-rounder for Swish.

Not sure if that goes to ATL or if it just disappears.

Stubbs isn't good enough to start. Brantley would be the 3rd outfielder.

#mets offered $48M for 4 yrs, so they were close. Went to mlb today and found draft-pick issue would have to go to grievance

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS
#mets wouldn't do deal w/o retaining draft pick. Tough for bourn to wait on mets grievance, as it could take days/weeks

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS
Reason #mets didn't request draft-pick issue to be resolved sooner is belief price would rise omce public pressure mounted

It disapperas. Atlanta gets a compensation round draft pick.

Angels gave up their 1st rounder for Hamilton. Rangers however didnt get Angels pick (around 20 overall). That pick is simply lost. Rangers will instead pick at the end of the 1st round after all the other teams have picked. So in reality in 5 teams give up 5 picks for signing free agents, 1st round affectively becomes a 25-pick round.

Well, they have Trevor Bauer now, so it's not so bad.

stubbs/brantley platoon i guess?

or they move swisher to first and lose some of his defensive value playing him there.

stubbs's's entire value is on defense. i can't see them trading for him and then having him as a 4th outfielder. and certainly not as a dh. a .312 career obp? .277 last year?! he's a d something but h isn't it.

or do they move him to the mets? he's better than anything the mets have anywhere in their outfield.

i think it's a decent move by the indians. bourn is a really, really, really good defensive player. they're at least trying to prop up their ****** rotation and not losing much w/r/t futures. they lost their second round pick signing swisher and the competitive balance pick signing bourn. it's only going to cost them money to finish behind the tigers this year.

It seems to me that Indians badly needs some left handed relievers. Or they just gonna use Hagadone and Barnes all the way? David Huff is another option just because he's not a starting material anymore. Edit: They invite Rich Hill at the camp.

Bourn is an elite defender with speed in his prime. The Tribe are getting a deal.

Too much left-handed hitters.
Santana is a switch and IIRC, so is Cabrera. It's at least decent balance.
