They also posted an article (or at least Heika did) about the Stars are going to leave Roussel in the A for an extended period...only to see him recalled a day after that article.
The Oleksiak scratch makes sense to me. It's a combination of wanting to play Larsen and reward him for a solid outing last time against the Oilers and Oleksiak looking completely overmatched by the Oilers speed/two-man forecheck in that game. Anyone else remember the puck to Hall all alone in the slot?
Oleksiak will be fine long term, but the Oilers team speed, ice surface and heavy forecheck style of play just exacerbates the rookie defenseman adjustment of being a quarter-beat slow to move the puck. One of the biggest adjustments for a rookie defenseman to make is having to make every decision that much faster because the time you had to think and make the pass in the AHL is just gone. And like I said, it's just that much worse against the Oilers for several reasons.
He'll get a night to watch and see where the safe outlet passes are against a team of this style and be fresh for Calgary. I don't mind it at all. It's like an extended video session for him, and Larsen played well enough last go-round that it's not like the team is taking a huge (heh pun) personnel loss by doing it for one night.
So gully has no clue why we are 3-0-1 in the last four. Oleksiak scratched by a minor league coach. 20 year old guys can play back to backs-sit Rome or Robidas. Larsen should play, Oleksiak is the Hope, Gogo needs size with him. The Gogo-larsen combo will be brutal , I promise. Rome will get blow by at least 2x tonight, the oilers have speed and the last change. -sad
In this 3-1 stretch, Rome was on the ice for only one goal against (just as many as Larsen). Rome has been fine.

Honestly I agree. Would I rather see Larsen AND Oleksiak play? Absolutely because I think this year is all about their development. But Rome hasn't been making noticeable mistakes ala Jordie Benn to warrant a scratch.
GM Joe signed to a 3 year deal for a reason, and it wasn't to be a #7. So far he's shown he can be a passable #6.

Minus the terrible turnover against Anaheim that led to a 3 on 1 with Kari making an unreal save (and also where he completely gave up on the play and decided to go for a line change instead of chasing down his own mistake).

You mean the play where he sent it up the boards to where one of his wingers should have been? That's not on Rome.

He pinched prematurely and was trying to get the puck back to Daley but made a god awful pass and they took it the other way. He could've reached out and touched Winnik when he grabbed the puck to start the rush.
Aloha. I'm still around in Stars internet world, though obviously not as much here. Just too many things to write and too little time to do it, mostly.
