I wonder if Babs really liked the 6 guys he has been playing at D as much as he says he does. If so, I hope we trade Ian White, I think he would have decent value in the trade market. If he was a lefty I think he'd already be gone.

Maybe he likes White more when he plays well I hope we move him, too, but I have to think we'd get better value the closer we get to the trade deadline. And if we play him a few games and he doesn't look horrible. So, we sit on him for awhile until either a move is forced or a good deal comes along.

For Kessel? It would probably take Nyquist AND the 1st and I'm still not sure if Toronto even thinks about it.

After what Burke traded for him I'd venture that Kessel is untouchable if only to save face.

Leafs don't need white. They got too many D as is. Liles is sitting and Gardiner needs a spot also once he is recalled from minors (conditioning after injury)

Since they are in playoff hunt, it would have to be upgrade in forward position. Flip isn't really an upgrade over Kessel.

I don't want us to over pay for Kessel

FLA's Stephen Weiss is shut down for the rest of the year, will require surgery for an ongoing wrist problem.

FLA can't catch a break lately. If healthy, Weiss would've been major trade deadline (rental) chip to play. Now he's gone to UFA in July
Explains his struggles this year.

And there goes that rumor. I'm glad we didn't trade for him and then get that thrown at us.

Does anyone think Columbus would be foolish enough to trade within the division and send us Jack Johnson?

Let's say Jack Johnson and a 2013 3rd for Gustav Nyquist, Xavier Ouellet and a 2015 1st?

Jack Johnson = a Marc Andre Bergeron who has name recognition. Do. Not. Want.

If they were, we'd have to send White / Ericsson or another D their way, no way we can dress 9 D. Let's say White + 2014 1st + Nyquist for Johnson. I don't know if it's too much or too little. He's still signed for 4.35M until 2018, he's right there with Tyutin, Streit and Giordano cap-wise.

Maybe if re-alignment goes through.

It cost them Carter for JJ and a 1st right? So I think the value is there, however the point is moot since I really don't see the jackets giving up JMFJ unless it's a huge overpayment.

The Kings gave up Johnson to get Jeff Carter and you think a couple of prospects and a first is too much?

Ouellet might even become a better Dman than Johnson, atleast overall quality. JJ is mostly offensive and lack defensive talent.

Just getting healthy, if that ever happens, will be like making a few trades for Detroit, which has yet to play with a fully healthy lineup this season.

"If we can get all our guys back, that’s almost like a deadline addition or two," said Holland.
Made me chuckle.
