2) He's waiver eligible anyway, his contract structure doesn't matter. Boychuk was on a 2-way. This is the misconception that years of faulty NHL GM modes propagated throughout the league's fanbase, you're not automatically excused from waivers just because you're on a 2-way.
Bowman is on a two-way contract this year, one-way next year. But yes, he has to clear waivers.
Personally, I hope we waive him and someone claims him so we don't have to pay him next year to be useless. I don't know what JR was thinking giving out one-way contracts to Peters, Welsh and Bowman when their overall contribution to NHL hockey is somewhere in the negative.
