This is what happens when your defense is lazy as **** and doesn't play anywhere else during the lockout.

He did. He has always played that way. He is over-agressive and overplays the shot when moving from side to side. Often times, when the puck is in the net, you'll find Holtby almost completely out of his crease at the side of the net, having thrown himself out of position during the save attempt. The more you look for it, the more you see it, the more you can't believe it.

The thing was, during the playoffs, the Caps were playing #hunterhockey, and both defensemen were constantly patrolling the front of the net, boxing out forwards and chipping away rebounds. Holtby owes a MAJOR portion of his playoff run to #hunterhockey and his defense--which bailed him out time after time, bad rebound after bad rebound.

Shocked CSN didn't do all they can to replay that possible goal by Ovi. Almost any goal like that by an opponent gets a slow-mo it feels like.

Caps are gonna lose again.

Where are all the "its too early to panic" posters?

Where is Backstrom?

You could see the goaltending getting hot and the forwards netting enough goals, but this D aimlessly skates around. It's been a theme for years.

No replay of the Ovy shot/possible goal? Weak sauce, CSN.

no one has been more invisible this game than backstrom. he needs to take notes from ribs and step his game up.

McPhee needs to go along with Howson but Caps ownership doesn't listen to fans.

Stop blaming the defense on that 4th goal. Holtby way over played it.

Caps ownership should almost never listen to fans.

The results speak for themselves, however.

I'm good with trading Ribs for value, but then we have basically no second line at all. Does anyone really believe McPhee can improve on Ribs AND get a scoring winger?

weak sauce all around.

Where is the NHL? Dont they have goal line cams in each arena?

That said-- how many goals are on Holtby?

I say zero...maybe 1.

Goals #1 and 3 are stupid deflections. Rediculous crap. Goal #2 may be on Holtby. Good shot, but could have been saved. Goal #4 was terrible defensive coverage. That could have also maybe been saved.

Between goals #2 and 4, he could have saved maybe 1 of them. Maybe.

Nice D

Where is Backstrom? I would love to have Semin to play with him. 19-20-28 would be so much better than 19-20-17. UGH

Actually I think Nicky is playing pretty well. Look at who his wingers are.
