Nabokov to the Leafs

Since Reimer went down last night and we don't know how long it's for Leafs may need to find a guy that can play some games. enter the isles and Nabokov. Nabokov is a guy that has proven he can play every night and would stabilize the goaltending until Reimer returns and at that point serve as a great backup.

What would it take

I would say a 2nd round pick, but I think Garth and Wang aren't ready to officially give up on the season yet.

they say Reimer won't miss significant time.

Scrivens can handle a few starts till he gets back.

I expect them to sign someone rather than waste an asset to get someone for such a minimal time.

Still have some old veteran backup goalies that are UFAs - Conklin, Roloson, Johnson, Pogge <- lol

No shortage of trade proposals from you I see. No reason to do this at all. Reimer won't be out long, and there are goalies available via UFA that could be picked up in a stop gap situation. If the leafs trade for a goalie while Reimer is out, do they carry 3 all year when he gets back. Big no, and please stop.

I'd do it for a 4th 2013 + b level prospect (Ross,Ryan,McKegg)

Would hesitate to trade a fourth round pick for Evgeni Nabokov. He hasn't looked good this year and wouldn't be an upgrade over Ben Scrivens.

Ehhhh I wouldn't go that far, put Scrivens on the islanders and I think he looks 10x worse. I'd be hesitant to do a 2nd round pick, but as an earlier poster suggested, a Ryan/Mckegg/Blacker + late pick I would do.

Not going to happen, but would Ben Bishop for Tyler Bozak be good value?

No. Leafs need Bozak more then they do Bishop. Reimer is only expected to miss 1-2 weeks, and I don't see Bishop as much of an upgrade over Scrivens, if at all.

The Isles clearly want to add more goalies, not trade them away. Just look at the Thomas deal. Come on now!

Agreed. But its because the Leafs CANT. Not because Bozak is so good.

Both teams say no to this trade. Hes a UFA at years end so hes not worth Bishop and the Leafs have nobody to really replace him with right now.

Its a lose lose
