Huge deal.. If he can stay healthy it'll definitely be worth it.

Giving that amount to a catcher scares me, but it is well deserved.

Considering what he's already done, this is already well deserved. Congrats to him and it's great to know he will be a Giant for a long time.

Hell, he could end up anywhere in the infield. He was great at SS at FSU

Fewer than two seasons of games played and he's already a HOFer?

Obviously Posey is on a Cooperstown trajectory as of now. Then again, so was Lincecum for a while. Things can go to **** in a hurry.

Giants had to do it but I am not going to say its good deal for them...Hate giving catchers that length of a deal and if you have to move him to first then that reduces his value although not to the level of Mauer....Still not a horrible deal and it in order to keep him (which they had to) it was going to cost that much.

It's nice to see teams like the Giants be able to give that kind of money to their star player to keep him from leaving...Question is going to start to be are these non free agent huge contracts being signed going to end up as disasters like most of the huge free agent contracts that are signed.

We just won't see free agents in their 20s. (like Adrian Beltre and Alex Rodriguez, who left for free agency at 25). We'll just see signings of aging stars who will be past their prime soon.

Kinda split on the deal. That's a ton of money for a catcher (think Mauer). On the other hand Posey is a great player.

Moving to first base doesn't really effect his value...he's still a .950+ OPS hitter. The only problem for the Giants is what to do with Belt

Can't tell if this is a joke or not, but this isn't like the NHL where winning a couple awards (apparently, according to the main boards here when discussing Thomas or Ovi) makes you hall of fame worthy. And most of those accolades have nothing to do with getting into the hall. Comeback player of the year? who gives a ****?
