St. Louis - Philadelphia

Since Strickland says there's some Blues/Flyers scouting going on...

Philadelphia gets:
LW David Perron

St. Louis gets:
D Braydon Coburn

Strength for strength. Blues get a long term partner for Petro and the Flyers get a complimentary scoring piece to spend a long time with Schenn, Coutourier and the gang. Blues give up a little bit more potential for a little bit more certainty. Each team deals from a position of depth.

Close?

Coburn goes nowhere. The most available of our top 6 dman are probably Grossmannnnn and Mez, but not Coburn. You would have to pay a prettier penny than Perron for Coburn.

I don't really think we can afford to give a defender up either, unless Homer knows we aren't going to make it to the dance this year. Which our management never thinks that way.

The value is pretty fair but Philly can't part with Coburn.

Coburn is likely the only d-man the Blues would have interest in on the Flyers. Perhaps Meszaros. Is he very physical?

Mez steps up and makes solid hits sometimes. He is not overly aggressive or anything, but knows how to lay some big time hits. That couldn't have been the reason the Blues were scouting the game last night though since Mez is injured.

That'd be an overpayment but that is what it would take for Philly to actually give up Coburn.

Coburn has been pretty bad this season. He's made so many stupid mistakes and taken many dumb penalties

If the right move came along that involved Coburn, I'd be all over it

Does Phili have a 3rd line center. That may be of interest also. I don't see them giving up dmen - especially Coburn. But needing a 2nd line winger - (D'Agostini) maybe for their 3rd or 4th center.

NOT Targetting Couturier, but maybe Talbot.

I think the deal is fair value on both parts, but Philly can't afford to trade one of its two competent blueliners.

what about stewart+cole for coburn? As a blues fan i like stewart, however im not sure if he is the right fit for our team, and with Hartnell out he would add some size and toughness to your top 9.

Not to insult blues fans but as a flyers fan I'd want Petro in return for Coburn. Which won't happen

I doubt Philly parts with a D anyway, but what would Flyers fans want or need from us and give for it?

correct me if I'm wrong but don't you guys have 3 top-6 centers?
would a deal around Couts or Schenn (both unlikely, I know) for Perron work for you?

No Coots or Schenn for Perron. No chance from the Flyers POV.

I mentioned on the Flyers board, but what if St Louis was looking at Briere. He would be perfect for your team(salary and cap hit) Has a high cap hit, but his salary in the next two years is 5 million combined. I know it's not probable right now, but if the Flyers keep slipping, the Blues would be a good team for Briere to be traded to. He would provide leadership and could be #2 center there. He would also be in the Western conference, so no worries about him haunting us.

Guessing he wouldn't cost a lot since we'd be doing you guys a favor with the cap.

Coburn has extreme value to the Flyers but if something like Stewart+Cole/Schwartz came up it would be hard for Homer to pass that up. I don't see much of St. Louis being a Flyers fan but Stewart+Schwartz seems like an overpayment. I've only seen Cole play once or twice so I can't comment on him.

I don't think that at all. We have fit him under our cap since the signing, so it's not like it hurts us. He is a quality player who can provide depth and leadership for a fairly young team making a cup run. I would think a 1st would be asked in return, + more. I just don't know how much.

Schwartz won't be moved. His cost controlled years are way too valuable for us and he has big potential.

Ok that makes sense. Maybe our definition of a lot is slightly different. Are you saying a 1st and prospect/D'Agostini type deal? I could do that if Briere still has a decent amount left in the tank.

Maybe Briere is the forward to take the spot of a Perron/Stewart trade for a defenseman. Can Briere still play center or is he a winger now?

I said "a deal around" those guys, not straight up...evenif I think we wouldn't have to add a lot, but thats just my opinion

I really like Danny, a high competing player, reminds me of Amac, but isn't he playing on the wing for the last couple of years?
and he isn't big enough for the center-type we prefer, the price has to be really good that I could see us pull the trigger
