Ovechkin Versteeg Incident.

Ovechkin had a quetionable hit on Versteeg in the opening shift of the game. Versteeg comes back no worse for wear and completely instigated a fight. No punches were thrown, the refs broke it up pretty quickly.

How is it a fight if no punches were thrown?

Versteeg tried to fight OV and OV just kinda held his arms down. Looked like OV could ****ed him up.

OV's about twice the size of Versteeg, so I don't doubt it, but I'm sure he'd rather be on the ice in 2 minutes rather than in 5 minutes.

For those asking if the Ovie-Versteeg fight was good...they didn't even give them majors (roughing minors)...so there's your answer.

Caps fans - have players been challenging OV more this year?

I was at the Pens/Caps game and Tanner Glass and Bortuzzo both wanted to drop the gloves with him.

It's a shame that guys like Versteeg have to stick up for themselves against a player that outweighs him by 60 pounds or so.

Where's Parros or Jovocop to stick up for their teammate?

One's sitting on the bench because he's useless and the other is sitting on the bench because he's old and frail.

Versteeg was right to go after Ovechkin. He was also lucky it didn't develop into fisticuffs.

Looks like ovechkin sees his numbers and drills him anyway.

The hit from behind was kind of marginal. I think Versteeg needs to do a little more to protect himself. But Ovechkin should have gotten two for diving on that push from behind. If that little bump knocks him over that easily, he as bigger issues than not scoring.

I am sitting here trying to watch any game I can on TV or online in this barren frozen tundra (which I call home and love of course) with no NHL team within 600 miles, and there are three sections between the blue lines in the lower section with 9 people sitting in them.

There is no justice in this world.

Yeah, but it also looked like Versteeg turned around right before then and "may" have seen him coming and turned again to brace for the hit thinking Ovy wouldn't hit him in the back.

Regardless it should have been a hitting from behind penalty based on the rulebook but Versteeg didn't help himself out there either.

they really need to start letting players fight, btw that should've been counted as a fight as they both dropped their gloves and grid to fight
