Surprising move but I like it! Jackets showed some balls on this one. With Kekalainen and Davidson + 3 first round picks this year. If Los Angeles keeps on losing, Columbus could even have 2 top 10 picks but I think LA will pick up pace really soon.
Anyway, keep the heads up Columbus fans. Future looks bright for you!
I hope JD and JK also have the leeway revamp the scouting staff. The first thing Lombardi was able to do was to replace the scouting staff. Before that the Kings seemed to get a good pick/interesting prospect once every 10 picks, meaning some drafts we would get nothing. Even in 2003 we had three first rounders and only Brown panned (the situation was similar to CBJs now). Now LA has so much home grown talent...
Unbelievable that Howson managed to last 6 years. Is JK generally considered to be the architect of all the great drafts St. Louis has had?
He is. The man knows how to pick talent. Just as an example, TJ Oshie was a way off the board pick. If I remember correctly he was projected to be a 2/3 round guy. We ended up taking him late in the first. Jarmo is a good one. I was really sad to see him leave the Blues.
Jarmo is a good decision here to build from the draft, the guy has a nack for seeing talent where others don't. If the Blues didn't grab Armstrong I'm sure he would of stayed with the Blues. Good deal for the Jackets.
