Who was Howson's direct boss, John Davidson?

I'm wondering who did the firing.

Do not want Burke to go there, he deserves some success after all his effort in Toronto.

On a more serious note... my impression of the Blue Jackets was that the biggest problem on that team was the culture in the organization. JD will change that. Firing Howson will continue changing that.

Describing what Nash did as merely getting a point does it great injustice.

Similar to Burke firing, weird timing but not unexpected.

It would be a demotion considering he's the president.

Didn't Columbus also fire their scouting department right after the draft?

No wonder GMs make stupid trades. They only worry about saving their jobs and compromise the organization's future... Although 6 years is more than enough time for such an underperforming GM.

Columbus is a market that would benefit greatly from Burke's... how should I put this - "Showmanship"

A loud, carnival barker type personality is just what a smaller market team like the Jackets can use. It would be a great fit but I'm unsure of what the situation with Davidson is.

Odd timing..IMO the BJs have someone else in mind who's available or they really soured on something Howson was planning to do trade wise. After the pretty meh Nash trade anything is possible. I think they promote someone internally as an interim and go after an end of the season fired GM in May or June

It was inevitable with JD coming on, but it was still too late. The Nash trade wasn't Howson's to make. Especially after Howson threw him under the bus.

His highlight – the franchise’s highlight, really – was the 2008-09 season, when the Jackets finished 41-31-10 and earned a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first and only time.
CBJ have fired GM Scott Howson

I never like seeing somebody lose their job, but if CBJ fans are happy, then good for them.

CBJ announces that GM Scott Howson has been relieved of his duties.
I wonder what it feels like blowing millions of dollars on something.

Shame the city can't put together a good team. Seems it'd be a good town for hockey.
