I thought MacLean did that when he was fired and replaced by Howson?

Southeast US? We're less than 150mi from the Canadian border.

Said it in the CBJ thread and I'll say it here... if Brian Burke is a planned replacement GM here, I swear to G-d and Heaven, I am abandoning this team.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

I'm surprised people think it'll be Burke, I doubt he wants to take on a job like this so soon after dealing with the stress of Toronto. Columbus, no offense, is probably at least three-four years of good management away from contention.

Also, I think Burke might be holding out for Washington.

He has to sit for hours next to Andy Brickley; I think he's already there.

Pulling for Jarmo here.

Edwards is intentionally chirpy. No need. Get some class.

Timing is a bit odd, but an overdue move nevertheless.

I'm kind of pulling for Burke, but as someone else said you have to wonder if he's waiting for GMGM to get the boot in Washington; they could use his tenacity.

I'd love to see the type of team Burke could put together in Columbus if you give him 6 years to draft and develop a team through a proper rebuild. There is absolutely zero pressure to win right away in Columbus, and the area would really benefit with a proper rebuild. Say what you want about Burke by compare the team statistics from year-to-year, you cannot deny that there isn't more skill on the Toronto Maple Leafs or in the organization now than when he took over. Part of the reason why Burke wasn't successful in Toronto is because the fanbase and ownership had the mentality that they wanted a winning "now" when he took over, thus he didn't have much time to build a team the right way in a cap constrained league. Columbus already has a very solid foundation and some great prospects waiting in the wings. This is an organization that could really benefit from a little bit of Brian Burke in it's city.

Burke wouldn't want that job. They have a 5+ year rebuild ahead of them.

I remember watching a pre draft video on the NHL network with St. Louis leading up to the 2006 draft and it was quite apparent the Davidson and Kekalainen were very close.

I'd have a hard time thinking it would be anybody but Jarmo.

Quiet you! If they think we're in the Southeast we might get flipped with Winnipeg when realignment happens!

He is already heavily involved with hockey at Miami of Ohio and spends a good amount of time here.

I don't think it will be Burke though because this is John Davidson's team now. Burke has to be the big dog.

Out of left field... It's about friggin time, though. Blue Jackets had to do something to keep the fans happy after they dumped Nash and lost the ASG.

This, sorry I should have clarified but Columbus has shown the means and willingness to spend up to the cap.

About time... Can't believe he lasted this long. Hopefully the new GM goes in there and overhauls everything. New scouting, new development, new everything.
