Is the NW now the worst division?

4 of the teams are in the bottom 10 of the standings, Calgary and Colorado are firmly planted in the bottom 2 with Edmonton heading their way there.

Is this now a worst division than the SE?

The SE is still the worst. I still think Calgary will rebound a bit.

Well it's tough to say. Both Calgary and Colorado have played fewer games than everybody else directly ahead of them, and have had significant injury problems to start the year.

Calgary is missing their entire 2nd line from the season opener and their starting goaltender, while Colorado is missing ROR, Landeskog, and Downie.

Neither team has iced their full roster at any moment this season.

Glad to see that HF has faith in Edmonton..

The only reason I see that the Oil heavily tank is the 9 game road trip they have coming...

I still think the SE is the weakest.

EDM won 3/4 games against teams from the SE last year. The one loss was against Tampa in a shoot out.

3/5 worst teams for goals against are in the SE.

If Tampa had to play against the west this year they wouldn't be doing as well as they have been.

Depends on whether you judge a division by the number of elite teams or the number of terrible teams.

And the Flames and Wild just haven't worked for some reason (Flames even before kipper went down).

With the divisional heavy schedule, you'd have to think points would come from somewhere.

And I honestly thought the division would take a big step forward this season, making it much tougher for the Canucks to dominate. I was predicting a close race between Minnesota and Vancouver, with two of the other three teams being in the playoff bubble (likely just outside it).

Tonight we had 6 players missing (3 you mentioned + Wilson, Hunwick, and Mitchell), and now going forward we won't have Johnson, Mcleod, and possibly Duchene depending how he does over the next couple days.

Avs were never a good team but aren't as bad as they're going to play this year

I think the Flames and Minny will both get it together, but we'll see. I think its pretty close with the SE for worst.

It's certainly the worst in the West. It's hard to compare to the East though as the rest of the NW has to play Vancouver so much which depresses their actual records. There's no team in the SE that dominates the division right now like the Canucks do.

Calgary will get their act together. Both they and Minnesota will be playoff bubble teams.

Canucks lost a hfboard poll regarding what team would win our division the wild won, and the oilers were not far behind the canucks.

Cant help if they are not playing good. And they still are not that far behind in points either.

Vancouver has 16 points. Minny has 13. They play each other tomorrow. A win by Minny puts them only one point behind. Still looks pretty close to me. Edmonton has 13 points for that matter too.

I thought this was the year that the NW would be a good division again. But Colorado is terrible, Calgary is terrible, Edmonton is not as good as I expected, and Minnesota is not really gelling either. Question is, why? You can't deny that there's been a major influx of talent compared to last season. Well, new head coaches in Edmonton and Calgary didn't really have a chance to get to know their teams and install their systems, and Calgary is just wracked by injuries. Colorado is missing their entire top line, which is key because their forwards are their strength. Minnesota has a lot of new faces who need to be worked into the lineup. And Vancouver has been pretty good but are still missing some important players. It's looking like another year of the Northworst, not exactly the Northbest.
