Guy is a pure beast and he's putting up great numbers (6gp, 3g, 3a)despite coming into the season late. He's also capable of logging more than his average 20 minutes per game and most suspect by end of year his toi will increase.

I agree that he's a great talent and is playing great hockey but I sincerely doubt he is the most underrated player in the league.

You're way off base. He has elite d-man upside. He's underrated, but FAR from the most underrated player in the league.

He's not underrated though... underrated are players like Lehtonen, Backes, Glencross etc.

Closer to being most overrated, actually.

I don't expect him to do much after he starts earning BIG coin. Also don't expect him to stay in Mtl long-term.

Within 2 years, he will be elite. He's learning a lot from Markov, who is currently elite.

Subban is very underrated and people would realize that if the Habs were more exciting and better. Subban imo is on the level of OEL and other such top young DMen for me. Personally I have a top 2 of Karlsson and Pietrangelo followed closely by Doughty, but then Subban is at the top of the rest of the group. OEL will be better but Subban, right now, is the 4th best U25 DMan in the world imo.

He's so skilled, he's pretty smart, he's athletic as all hell and he is getting better in the areas he needs to improve. Most importantly for me, I think he will put up a Conn-worthy performance in his career. I see that ability in him just as much as pretty much any other defender in the game.

I think one thing ppl would notice a lot more if they watched him every game, is how good he is in his own end, and a little overrated offensively IMO, great shot, great passer, and he is getting points this year, but isn't really a guy that can qb a pp.

I think he has to be one of the best d-men along the boards, uses his legs and body to win puck battles, specially on the pk, and I noticed one thing he does that very few ppl do, during a pk, after winning a puck battle along the boards, instead of clearing the puck using the boards, he flips it through the middle, but its really high.

His mistakes are very few, but they usually are costly, and oddly, Subban actually plays better when he gets more minutes like last year at 24-25min again, opposed to 18-19min a game

Come on now.

He's a great player, I won't argue that, but not the most underrated in the league. And there's no way he's an elite player right now. I think it's possible that in a few years people will be discussing how elite he is, but not this early.

His defensive play is something I remember Habs fans talking about last season, more so than his offensive play.

Exactly, but many fans around the league, specially early on use to think he was offensive with no defensive, when he actually is better in his own end.

Just about everybody thinks Subban's really good.

I don't know. This is like calling Bent Seabrook underrated.

If you guys wanna talk underrated, its Andrew MacDonald we should be talking about, guy logs over 26 min a game, good in his own end, and signed to a long term deal at 550K per

I think he's underrated, but definitely not the most underrated in the league.

I'm pretty damn excited about the future of our D-corps!

I still have no idea what some people don't like about PK Subban. I think a lot of it (especially the whole "showboating" business from his own bad team) is pretty akin to the subject of the "Evander Kane on how he is perceived" thread.

I think people were coming around when the hold-out happened.

I've updated the thread title from the most underrated to one of the most

I agree that was a bit of stretch

Habs fans tend to rate him similar to Norris trophy Karlasson and other world class dmen. Subban is not on that level, no excuses.
