There's a pretty good goalie in Ottawa. Crawford and Lethonen are right behind. Even Niemi has been lights out.

Finland has Kiprusoff, Rinne, Niemi, Rask and Bäckström. And that's just the ones in the NHL.

Fasth is an eyesore to watch in comparison to kari.

Yeah for real... who cares about the ducks. This is a Kari Lehtonen thread and he has been fantastic.

I have Lehtonen and Elliot on my fantasy team... Guess which one isn't a complete disappointment?!

That said, I have watched a few Dallas games this year because I love Benn and Kari has absolutely stood on his head. He definitely deserves more love.

I apologize then. I probably should've just came out and said it's debatable that he's the most exciting goalie in the league rather than leave it to the thread to realize what I meant. And I agree that he is terribly underrated but there's no need for **** like that.

An eyesore? Really? If this isn't hyperbole at it's finest, then this is implying that Lehtonen is simply god in the cage (which would also be a hyperbole). Fasth may not be as good as Lehtonen, but he's been one of the better goalies in the league.

I gave him his credit, he's a great goalie and he was frustrating to watch when our guys played him. Let's not exaggerate though. The season just started. Not sure anyone other than Anderson is in serious Vezina contention.

Being a good goalie doesn't mean you're enjoyable to watch. We were only discussing enjoyment in watching, not pure ability with that comment.

Lehtonen

I said it in the last "top 5 goalies" thread on this board. It took until page 2 for me to mention his name first, and then a couple of others followed.

Fair enough. I disagree, but there's admitted bias in my assessment.

Luongo is not only better this year, he is significantly better careerwise. And he can stay healthy. Easy choice. . .

I don't see how people argue that the Pacific division isn't the strongest division.

Dal - Lehtonen
Ana - Fasth
SJ - Niemi
LAK - Quick
Phx - Smith

All 5 are at least top 15 in the league. Arguement can be made at the end of the season for all in the top 10.

2 goalies in the top 5 (Quick, Lehtonen)
2 Stanley Cup winners, and a Conn Smyth (Quick and Niemi)
What a group..

But more on topic. If Lehtonen doesn't win the Vezina it would be robbery; if he doesn't get a nomination it's 'grand larceny'.

I'd take Lehtonen over every single one of them, every day of the week. Rinne and Lehtonen will be fighting for the spot. A pack of oreos says Leht wins it.

I guess some people will continue to think Kari's an injury-prone sieve, regardless of all the contradictory stats that are readily available.

Oh well.

Haha come on, he was comparing Luongo and Lehtonen not Lehtonen and Toskola

Every part of that post is correct. Luongo is better this year, better in his career, and doesn't have the injury history.

Ignorant comment. Lehtonen has been staying healthy ever since he got to Dallas.

Imagine this stat line at the end of the season:

Conn Smythe for Niemi, Vezina for Lehtonen, Calder for Fasth.

It'd be a banner year for the Pacific!

That's debatable, no point to doing that though, it will not get us anywhere.

Ah, crap.

Still, that would've been impressive to see three different goalies from the same division sweep the awards like that. Maybe Fasth can settle for the Jennings.
