He's 13th in the league in hits yet has only played 10 games and averages about 7mins per game. Drew two penalties last night to boot and is a pretty good fighter for a smaller guy. He usually always gives up height and weight to his opponents. There are plenty of worse players in this league.
He's an agitator though from what I've seen he tends to take untimely penalties. Maybe I've seen it happen a few times in a row and now my brain is under the impression that it happens almost every time but it always appears to me that when you put Rinaldo on the ice, you can expect to put your PK unit on next.
To me the quintessential Zac Rinaldo moment was him slew-footing Zach Parise then running off, leaving Brayden Schenn to eat the punches that should have been coming his way and thus getting knocked out by Ilya Kovalchuk. Pretty much sums up Rinaldo's play and career in one sequence.
Rinaldo isn't some premier asset, but it's clear that he plays a role. He's a solid, cheap 4th liner. He hits and plays at max effort at all times.
Anyone who has watched the Flyers will say he's been considerably more controlled this season than in the past. Unfortunately, he still gets a lot of ticky-tack reputation calls (yes, that reputation is his fault). If it were not for past iterations of Rinaldo, this version would be a really nice option on the 4th line of many competitive teams.

Wah wah wah, you don't like Rinaldo. He drew two penalties tonight and didn't take any. Doesn't sound useless to me. He's also ever-improving as a fighter. He's a good energy guy and can skate unlike most enforcers in this league.
By and large he's not actually a dirty player though.
Actually he is! If he could get away with ending someones career there is little doubt in my mind that he would think twice about it. He is 23 years old and already has a reputation like he does does not look good for his overall tenure in the NHL.
He's a goon. Takes untimely penalties and has little control of his emotion. Not a fan.
Completely disagree. By far the most tamed goon we've ever had. Hits like a truck, knows how to fight, and can play the PK and Block shots. The kid is definitely an NHL player anyone who thinks otherwise has not watched him play enough.
