Cute.

Also, he is the type of player that you hate if he isn't on your team. He does his job pretty well, better than he did last year as he is a bit more in control of his emotions this year.

People love players like this on their team until he does something stupid during the playoffs to fire up the other team and put his team on the PK at a crucial moment in the game.

Players that gets threads on this board usually are doing something many of the 600 players in this league aren't doing atleast...

He's 13th in the league in hits yet has only played 10 games and averages about 7mins per game. Drew two penalties last night to boot and is a pretty good fighter for a smaller guy. He usually always gives up height and weight to his opponents. There are plenty of worse players in this league.

He got not one, but two over on the Jets last night. And got them over good. And this from likely his most profound hater on the Flyers board

He's an agitator though from what I've seen he tends to take untimely penalties. Maybe I've seen it happen a few times in a row and now my brain is under the impression that it happens almost every time but it always appears to me that when you put Rinaldo on the ice, you can expect to put your PK unit on next.

This and the OP's post itself are the obvious answers to the question.

I don't really think he's anything special, I couldn't care less about him being a Flyer long-term, but ******* if he doesn't rustle some jimmies nearly every game.

I mean, a guy who apparently doesn't even belong in the NHL bothered a losing FAN so much they went and whined about him after a legitimate loss.

This thread's existence is a great example of why Rinaldo is in the league. Great job.

Rinaldo is a great 4th liner. Sure, he takes his share of stupid penalties, but he brings a lot of energy, can hit, and is a very good middleweight fighter

Our 4th line has been pretty good the last few games

To me the quintessential Zac Rinaldo moment was him slew-footing Zach Parise then running off, leaving Brayden Schenn to eat the punches that should have been coming his way and thus getting knocked out by Ilya Kovalchuk. Pretty much sums up Rinaldo's play and career in one sequence.

Rinaldo isn't some premier asset, but it's clear that he plays a role. He's a solid, cheap 4th liner. He hits and plays at max effort at all times.

Anyone who has watched the Flyers will say he's been considerably more controlled this season than in the past. Unfortunately, he still gets a lot of ticky-tack reputation calls (yes, that reputation is his fault). If it were not for past iterations of Rinaldo, this version would be a really nice option on the 4th line of many competitive teams.

Rinaldo and Subban on the same team? That would create a cataclysmic event that the world would never recover from.

Wah wah wah, you don't like Rinaldo. He drew two penalties tonight and didn't take any. Doesn't sound useless to me. He's also ever-improving as a fighter. He's a good energy guy and can skate unlike most enforcers in this league.

Keep up the hate, he drinks it in.

By and large he's not actually a dirty player though.

Pretty much. The guy is just trying to be cool by following the wrong stereotype though.

Actually he is! If he could get away with ending someones career there is little doubt in my mind that he would think twice about it. He is 23 years old and already has a reputation like he does does not look good for his overall tenure in the NHL.

I hated him since the day he was in the OHL, he can throw some questionable hits. Sometimes he will pick his spots when it comes to fights.

I'm not 100% on this action, but didn't he decline an invitation from Anthony Peluso yesterday? Perhaps it was the wrong time to fight?

Although, he can throw some huge hits.

Can someone from Philly contrast him with Carcillo? From an outsiders perspective they look like the exact same player on the ice.

Completely disagree. By far the most tamed goon we've ever had. Hits like a truck, knows how to fight, and can play the PK and Block shots. The kid is definitely an NHL player anyone who thinks otherwise has not watched him play enough.

Rinaldo to me is quicker and a lot tougher. Carcillo would drop the gloves, but Rinaldo drops the gloves, hammers people with huge hits and doesn't dive.
