Ben Duffy

He plays for the PEI Rocket, and I looked on the internet but couldn't find much. Anyone know anything about him? NHL Projection? Strengths/Weaknesses?

Stuck in a pretty poor development environment.

On pace to have fewer points this season than he did in his rookie year.

He's been used on the wing a lot this year and that limits his effectiveness. He's not strong enough to win the puck battles against the wall, not is he a good enough skater to blow by guys.

He's undoubtedly talented, sees the ice well, has good hands, but he simply hasn't gotten stronger since his 16 year old season and he struggles finding time and space on the ice. Personally, I think he might be a touch smaller than what he's listed as and his skating just isn't strong enough to make up for his lack of size.

i've seen a handful of rocket games this year and every game he has been completely invisible.. i had to check the box score to see if he was even playing.. it's funny because last year he was actually somewhat effective but he hasn't done anything this year

He's a 1992, 2010 Eligible, so undrafted right now. Given his lukewarm numbers this season and lack of progression, I'd have to say he'll likely go undrafted this summer at this rate.

Duffy was a kid that made a lot of noise coming into the league last season, but as others have mentioned, it hasn't gone very well for him this year in PEI. He was drafted in the Q right behind Gormley, Couturier and Hynes, so not bad company there. But even if he is passed over at this year's draft, he can still prove himself next season and be drafted as a 19 year old. Personally, I think he has the talent to become a good hockey player at the next level eventually. But we've all seen prospects completely top off too early in their careers. I still think he can turn it around and he has the time to do so. It's not the end of the world if he isn't drafted or drafted very high, it is just going to make his job that much harder.

He's a very good player. He's lighting it up this year in The Q. Should see him the NHL sooner rather than later.

Or realistically, never. Unless vast improvements are made.

He has a ton of skill but his defensive game is lacking, he is really soft, and he has a very slight build to him and isn't tall at all. His hockey sense isn't high enough to make up for his small stature in the NHL. I could see him playing in Europe somewhere one day.

Ive heard from a couple of my buddies who know him that after his rookie year management in pei forced him to bulk up which completely through him off his game. This past year he has returned to his regular (size) I guess. That being said from the small sample size of watching him play against Halifax I havent been impressed at all. It's a shame because when he was in bantam/midget he had very high expectations.
