If only Tampa Bay had more Tom Pyatt's and AHLers..

I can't wrap my head around JR drafting Boychuck over Karlsson.

I can't wrap my head around Ottawa thinking Wade Redden was going to be a better defenceman than Zdeno Chara.

It's more about the fascination with pumping one's tires and I told you so's more than anything.

You say in response to one of the most notorious tire pumpers we've got.

They had offers on the table for both Chara and Redden.

Redden was still a very good defenseman at the time. It's really amazing how quickly he fell off. Of course, there are/were rumors of various extracurricular activities that Redden enjoyed partaking in that probably exacerbated his decline. However, these rumors were there from the very beginning so it's not like he didn't play well in spite if it before.

Chara had a VERY poor playoff against the Sabres before bolting for Boston. Although injured during the series, there were serious concerns that the Sabres exposed his supposed lack of foot speed. Remember, this was the new NHL, and high octane offenses were going to be tough to contain. The Sabres did skate circles around Chara, but obviously injuries played a part in that.

Basically, Ottawa was willing to sign both Chara and Redden. Chara wanted to test the open market and he got about 1.5 million more per season than Ottawa was offering.

Has there been any mentions of teams possibly being interested in Komisarek?

Guess we are about to find out...

How is this *not* on the Sabres board already? At least, it wasn't in the thread that should have it...

It's an around the league thread, which would include the dorky scissors team.

If none of their posters add it to their board by the end of the day, I will have no choice but to assume that they don't have a sense of humor, collectively.

Eric and Jordan will now be wearing visors.

"It's a decision that's been brewing for a little while," Eric Staal said. "At this point I just feel like the risk (of injury) isn't worth it right now, because of the injuries I've seen to other people in this organization, family.

"Sometimes you feel like you're invincible, but as many guys have seen, you're not. Unfortunately injuries can happen. It's just being smarter. As we've seen in the past when anybody has had an eye injury, they put (a visor) on. So why am I going to wait until that happens to me? Why not put one on now?"

Good. No need for pointless eye injuries. I like the look of visors anyway.

It's going to look really bizarre at first, but it had to happen.

I wonder what JR is thinking about Brian Lee being waived today. A guy who has played NHL minutes, still young enough to have an upside, and is impressive in the ways that Carolina defensemen usually have to be in terms of puck movement and non-physicality.

Maybe I'm misremembering here but I could swear there's been talk of JR being interested in Lee before.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was back during the Stillman-Commodore for Corvo-Eaves trade days. He was in the middle of a pretty good (though not great) AHL rookie season when that trade happened, had a nice couple years at UND, and had played for the US WJC team 3 consecutive years at that point, though he wasn't overly productive there.

I thought the consensus on Nash was that he was sent down so he could play a game with Charlotte during the 4 days off? I guess we'll know for sure when / if they call him back before the next game.

Rick Nash, not Riley. Rick didn't even receive a fine for this hit:
