Who will replace Ragnarsson?

Who will fillt he void created by Ragnarsson's apparent retirement from the NHL? Markov is my guess who would move to the number one line alongside Johnsson, but who will take his roster spot?

We sure could use Woywitka, but I like Branko, and I think Eager will turn out to be decent.

Good point, I guess we could say that about most of the team too. If it comes to that, I don't think I'll follow that season at all

Seidenberg is for me the best option. He has to move up the next season.

Seidenberg for sure. He shoulda been in a 5-6 slot last year had he not broken his leg. Pretty sure Seids' next NHL shot would be a make-or-break stint. Either way, the Flyers have to re-stock the organizational depth chart with young promising blueliners. The cupboard is bare back there aside from Pitkanen and possibly Seidenberg.

I don't know about this one. Markov is now our only physical defenceman. Desjardins(old), Johnsson, Pitkanen and especially Seidenberg will get mauled without a physical presence.

Enter Boris Valabik. He's projected to go in the top twenty of the next draft, and I think Clarke could swing some picks and goaltender depth in order to pick him up. He is projected to be a clumsy Chara which could change with time spent in the farm. We know Clarke likes Slovaks and this guy has some important assets that we're missing right now. I say we go without and spend time going into rebuild mode.

I say we just wait and see what's available when everything comes back to normal. You know that there are going to be good defensemen on the market because once a cap is in place, teams are gonna have to let some players go. I'd love to see us say goodbye to Eric D and see about getting some other defensemen on the open market.

I say it's time to go into full rebuild mode. No more relying on the veterans to get the job done. They've been given their window of opportunity. It's time to hand the team over to the likes of Pitkanen, Gagne, Carter, Richards, Ruzicka, Seidenberg, Markov, Jonsson. Let's let the young guys build some chemistry and see how they play. It can't be any worse than how things are now.

Seidenberg is the obvious choice, but Clarke will have an opportunity to sign a UFA even if no players are cut due to the cap. He had intended to resign Malakhov, but probably will not now. I am sure there are plenty of UFA defenseman, guys who were going to be playing in the last year of their contract this year. There are also guys who were not signed to a contract for this year. He will have plenty of guys to choose from, if he so choses.
