Or maybe his hometown and family. Pretty good reasons I'd say.

Sure it wasn't the winning history?

It's too bad, I liked seeing Toronto's line of the future as Winnipeg's 3rd line (Wellwood, Poni and Antropov).
Those were dark, dark days in Leaf land.
Those two, Stajan and Blake couldn't leave town fast enough for me.

Antropov and Ponikarovsky were just reunited! They can't be split up again. Not like this! NEVER LIKE THIS!

Mmmm, love me some big, hard forechecking, board battling winger depth.

Weird maneuvering by the Jets, basically amounting to Ponikarovsky for Tangradi and a 4th.
While Poni's boxcars looked pretty unimpressive, one of our posters mentioned that his goals per ES minute played is actually pretty impressive, somewhere on the order of 30th among LWers. From a non-stats perspective, he did some good things in the cycle game and in his own end, although he did seem a bit hesitant in going to the hard areas of the ice.
Ah well. Best of luck to him in New Jersey, hoping this flyer we've taken on Tangradi somehow pays off.

Weird trade for Winnipeg.
JUST signed Poni, and had him reunited with his former teammate (and member of the Two Towers), Antropov
Then essentially trade him for Tangradi + 4th?
Poni >> Tangradi right now, and HOPEFULLY Tangs can turn it around, but if not then in the future too.

Joe Corvo is probably the closest. With Carolina, traded to Washington, resigned with Carolina, traded to Boston, resigned with Carolina...

I don't understand either team does this, but especially the Jets.
That's a **** return, and why are you disposing of a guy you just got?

Devils are without Zubrus for 8 weeks + Ponikarovsky alreadys know the team/system/coaches
Basically a Zubrus clone.

I think this is an ideal deal for NJ.

Yeah it makes sense now. I was confused so I hit up my friend who is a Devils fan and he cleared up the situation for me.

I sure dont see any devils fans complaining, wondering if we could've got better picks for him.

Ehh, it's pretty much what Lou gave up for Poni last year. If the Jets thought they were getting a 2nd or a top prospect they'd be sorely mistaken.

I think your GM was more interested in the roster spot/contract freedom than the picks, actually. Lou just offered up the equivalent of what NJ traded last year.

So all it took to get him was a 4th and a 7th for a big, physical, decently offensive player on a one year deal at very reasonable cost?
Well, there goes another opportunity missed by Tambellini. A power forward for that cheap is exactly what the Oilers could use. And given that he was traded to the same conference, there's a chance Edmonton could've even had him for a 5th and 7th.
Surprised the Jets gave him up for so....nothing.
