I asked David Albright about expansion during chat today

Rob (Boulder, CO): Where do you see colleges adding hockey in the future?

David Albright: (4:22 PM ET ) There are always the Title IX implications to consider, so that may limit some schools from moving forward. There's been some interesting talk about the possibility of a Big Ten conference if one more school sponsors the sport. I would say Penn State is the most likely candidate there, although Illinois might be a possibility considering the success of its club team. And it would be really interesting if the Pac-10 schools could somehow get involved as there are several good club teams out West. Also, I've never really understood why Syracuse doesn't play hockey.

Potential new member for the CHA
Quote:
KENNESAW, Ga. Kennesaw State University would become the latest member of the CHA if the school's president, Dr. Betty L. Siegel, approves the athletic department's plan to add men's ice hockey as a varsity sport and to apply for league membership.

Kennesaw State, located 20 miles north of Atlanta, would announce its intentions to add men's hockey as a varsity sport this summer, pending the approval, and would look to join the CHA. Approval by Siegel could come as soon as this week.
See what $200k gets you?
