Good player on his own. Elite player with elite centers.

The guy was putting up 20+ goals on Dallas and he rarely got top powerplay time there. Calling him a leach is a little much imo.

Is there a GM in the NHL that acts like a bigger baby than this guy?

+ Neal. PP magician.
+ Martin. So smooth. So calm. So flow.
+ Letang / Nisk. Some growing pains but looked good for first game back.

+/= Sid. Meh. 3 points but too many drop passes to NO ONE. Needs to just shoot.

= Fleury. Some softies, but man, some very clutch saves. Point blank save on Alfie when he was alone in front was a beaut.

- Malkin. Is he sick?
- Injury to EK.

Guess we aren't getting Gonchar

+ They won.
+ Neal.
+ Letang wasn't too bad.

- Fleury. He had his moments...
- The PP. Shoot the damn puck.
- Puck battles. This team doesn't have the balls to win them anymore. Guys like Talbot and Malone would have risked an arm or leg to get at a loose puck.

*Prayers for Karlsson. Their GM on the other hand...

why was cooke's left foot in the air and behind karlsson's?

that was a strange play. i dont think it was intentional, but it's a rather suspicious play from a dirty player, kinda like subban cutting staal back in that habs series.

also about neal-cheecho... its not really a diss. neal is a leach, but an excellent one.

and before playing with thornton, cheecho had a 28 goal season, slightly more than neal ever did in dallas.

Yeah, I do not get the remark really. He is not going anywhere but Malkin's wing, so who cares? The guy scored 40 goals. That almost sounds as bad as people on the main board who used to slam sid for 'secondary assists' despite his leading the league in points. If Neal is a 'leach', and that is debatable, he can be our leach for the next decade for all I care.

Aaron Ward explained it. All players lift the leg like that to pin the opposing player against the boards. The force of hitting the boards caused his foot to slam down.

Ex-player, on TV, said it was a very typical play (minus the devastating injury) and that there was nothing dirty/intentional about it.

-I simply do not feel confident with fleury. Two horrible soft goals. He's so fragile.

-Kennedy. What the hells goin on out there!?

It looks weird in slow motion but its not irregular. Probably trying to pin karlsson against the boards and not let him get a free release.

Shame though, really like watching him play.

Edit: thanks icedcap, beat me to it. Posting from a phone...

fair enough. that actually makes sense.

i never thought it was intentional, but i was thinking cooke was trying to slewfoot him.

your explanation makes more sense though.

What's Cooke supposed to do? Leave his left foot in the air the entire game? He's gotta put it down sometime; it was just unfortunate he put it down on Karlsson's leg.

A good game aside from a terrible minute stretch in the second and the Karlsson injury. Fleury needs to find a way to improve his focus... or something. Idk what you can do about him now.

+ Sid/Malkin: Playing better for sure.
- Sens fans: Wishing to see players get injured/die because of an injury to your own is an unacceptable response.

Why are people down on Fleury? sure, he allowed a fluke goal from behind the net in (moved his leg at the LAST second), and the other goal which was not good, but he made alot of big saves. Although his rebound controll is not the best.

He was trying to put him off balance by lifting his leg with his knee. Pretty standard play when you're putting a guy into the boards.

Cole; if it qualifies as a great decision to put Cooke with Malkin.... then I have to offer my employees plaques every morning for meeting on time.
He took 19 periods to test something that was never going to work, and with a guy there with the right characteristics for the lines needs, suddenly they had offensive zone time on almost every shift and were really dangerous. It boggles the mind that compatibility is a word Bylsma just... doesn't... know.

- Karlsson injury. Don't think for a second that it was intentional of course, but it just looks bad because it is such an unnatural move from Cooke. Sad to lose one of the most exciting players in the league like that.

- our breakouts. I will keep saying it win or lose. Everyone knows what we're going to do, and we create virtually no chances unless we're on the PP or turns the play in the neutral zone. It is ugly to watch. Simple as.

- Kennedy. Meaninglessly bad game.

+ Despres. Everything we want.
+ Boychuk. Didn't see the first period, but on the third line he was just like Chris Conner at his best. Weak on the boards, but I'll take that.
+ Vitale. Excellent.
+ Neal. Quietly having a very good season.
+ Crosby had a very nice alround game.
+ Martin. A couple of penalties yeah, but along with Despres the only one of our defenders in this game who made smart outlets consistently, and he added some very much heads up plays when he had his assists. I really like Martin's game this season.

= Geno had a pretty good alround game except for faceoffs, but he needs to start scoring.Too many missed shots.

The rest had good and bad mixed in, I thought.

+ a win. But with no Spezza, Michalek and Karlsson leaving the game.... we had to get that.

Crosby getting a lot of +s, and while I think he had a good game, I think everyone would be giving him minuses for all of the frustrating drop passes if the Pens had lost.
