Gill won't be much more effective than Kaberle at this stage...

Can you tell me more about Eller? I thought he was more valuable than that.

Would be able to use him more IMO, our PK was really good with him in our lineup. Gorges would have a solid pairing guy and could rotate with Subban. I think he would help fill a need of a stay at home dman who clears the net.

Hard working player who's good on the defensive side of the puck. Has untapped offensive potential and he's shown flashes of it from time to time. Shields the puck well, good hands. Lacks a bit of finish and his offensive vision could be better. I'd say at best he'll be a 50pt defensive forward. At worst, he'll remain a solid 3rd line center who can put up 30pts or so.

I don't think either team does this. Eller is doing just fine in Montreal, and Hal Gill was already in Montreal, enjoyed it, then moved on. Neither team improves.

Same mold as that of Spaling, just a little bit more offensive. The value isn't that far off IMO. The difference would help with the Predators taking Kaberle. Montreal sheds some salary but gets a stay at home dman who boosts their PK and can clear the net. He is familiar with the team as well.

Why does Montreal even consider this? Hal Gill is pretty much a dinosaur and Nick Spaling is a decent bottom 6 player la Tom Pyatt and we got rid of him for nothing. Spaling also in my opinion doesn't fit with the new identity/philosophy that the team is trying to apply. Not interested especially at the expense of a good young player who's showing signs of dominance defensively with untapped offensive potential, even if it means getting rid of Kaberle, who will be bought out at the end of the year anyway.

What about if Nashville added Michael Latta or Austin Watson?

So did I. Pass from the Habs. He's at 0.5 PPG playing on the 4th line (plus slotting in whenever MT feels like shaking up lines mid-game.

If it's Austin Watson then the Preds say no. If its Latta then the Habs say no.

Eller is the only real asset in the trade. Why should we give him up for nothing?

Nashville wants no part of this, either.

Eller was your typical over hyped Montreal prospect. And why exactly is Nashville looking to add salary?

mmmhmmm. No other team's fan base anywhere does anything like that *cough*Tangradi*cough*

Habs would say no, because Watson doesn't help now, Eller does. Not to mention with Desharnais crapping the bed this year, it's looking like Eller will return as the 3rd C next season behind Plekanec and Galchenyuk while DD packs his bags. Kaberle can be compliance bought out in the summer if no other team gets hooked in on him (I'm looking at you Ottawa )

Preds say no, because Gill offers more of what they need (3rd pair, leadership, PK), and they sure as heck don't want Kaberle

**Tinordi

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a call up by end of year, I remember hearing Therrier say that he was one of the toughest cuts this year.

If not this year for sure next year he'll be ready for the NHL as a 3rd pairing guy.

Eller alone is more valuable than the preds package. It's an easy no.

Only player i'd be interested if Eller was traded would be Wilson.

And that would never happen.

Only thing that gets Preds attention on this deal is dumping Gill. Preds still dont do it.

Good luck with that one

Spaling and Eller are closer in value than you realize. From the descriptions above, they sound nearly identical, with Spaling being slightly better defensively with higher IQ, and Eller being slightly better offensively with better hands.
