Players using smelling salts

What exactly do these do? I've seen the players using them on tv and stuff, but never seen them in person.

Also, can you buy them ?

Funny you should say that. I was at the Devils Crunch game today and noticed some Crunch players doing it. First time I'd ever seen something like that. I wonder the same too.

It literally wakes you up when you smell it.

It's pretty nasty though.

It isn't as you don't ingest anything besides its odor.

EDIT: but really it is awful, I have no idea how these players can take multiple sniffs at that stuff without almost dying.

It's not. They simply have a very strong smell that irritates the mucus membranes in the nose, "waking" you up.

What does it smell like? Judging by the videos in the thread I would assume really bad.

Opens up your air passageways. Better breathing means more oxygen, energy, and better endurance / cardio. More oxygen means better blood flow to the brain. More blood flow to the brain means more focus.

They're pretty awesome.

Me and my buddies used to always have some if we were partying and we were running low on steam. Always helped.
