How much truculence do you want on the Leafs?

The last few games, various injuries have created lineup changes that made the Leafs a big, bad team that won't get pushed around by anyone.

Mark Fraser, Colton Orr and Frazer McLaren have given our team a different look. However, when Gunnarson and Brown return, who sits?

I'd sit Orr for Brown. He looked great in the last two games, but he has trouble clearing the zone and is painfully slow.

I have no idea who to replace on D. I'd sit one of the AHL contingent (Holzer/Fraser/Kostka), perhaps depending on the matchup.

At this point, does Komisarek ever get another game in?

I wouldn't mess with that 4th line at all the way they have been playing.

As of right now, I'm perfectly okay with our 4th line. Is it a long term solution? Very unlikely but they haven't given us reason to break it up yet.

As for Fraser, I don't think there's a way you can justify removing him from the lineup.

What the heck has Brown done as a Leaf to prove that he needs to be injected in the line up for:

Toughness
Penalty Killing
Scoring

?

His time as a Leaf has been nothing but abject failure.

Brown have been good for us. He is tough, skates hard and hits hard. He is a good middle weight fighter. I think we should rotate McLaren, Orr and Brown and always have two of the guys playing on the 4th line.

I think the current level of truculence is ok, would want some more of it in the top six but I am sure that will come once we start to promote from within.

Why's everyone so eager to change the line up? We've won four games in a row.

As it stands right now, I'd say Brown has to wait for an injury to one of Orr/Maclaren. I like what Brown brings to the team, he's fast and gritty and everything but the 4th line right now is playing exactly how we want and look like they're having fun out there. No reason to break it up now.

Gunnarsson might get back in over someone like Kostka, but then again Carlyle seems to really like Kostka so it's hard to say.

McLaren-Brown-Orr

I think we need some injection of toughness into the top 6. However, that will be difficult and take some developing of our prospects.

RC has already said Orr will play ALL 48 games. It's the right move. The Leafs will not get man-handled like last year against Boston. They will begin to develop a team identity, which is already noticeable as they stick up for each other.

Brown is the most over-rated player on the Leaf team.

I like Brown but I don't understand why so many people on this board inject Brown into the line-up as though as it's a given. He works hard every shift and I love that about him but he hasn't earned his spot where you would break up a line that's working well. I don't see any reason to mess with the line up when it's working well.

This would be awesome and hilarious. They better fight someone quick before we take a penalty or get scored on though...

4th line has been A+ for us this year.
McLaren - McClement - Orr
No changes needed.

right now we have...

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Kulemin - Grabovski - Komarov
Frattin - Kadri - MacArthur

The Kulemin/Grabo/Komarov line has plenty of truculence to them. Grabo is a firecracker, Kulie and Komarov are strong and hit.

The Frattin - Kadri - MacArthur line, is doing well, but MacArthur has been the weakest link, replace MacA with a winger with size, who can shoot, maybe Ashton, maybe Biggs down the road, and this line is fine.

JVR - Bozak - Kessel, I really like this line, and I really like Bozak, but we need more size on this one, JVR can't be the only one holding his own in that department. Bozak moved for a C with size and skill who can pass and bury it, maybe Colborne becomes that guy.

I think we have just the right amount of toughess for our team, anymore and we would be really vulnerable with the lack of skill in our line up, I would like to see Hamilton become a 4th liner when we dont need the services of both Orr and McLaren but they are playing great hockey so far this season and wouldn't touch the 4th line as for Brown I think and hope his time as a leaf is over great team guy but not enough skill or toughness to play for us. Maybe trade him to the Rangers since they are still looking for a suitable replacement for Prust.

Honestly, if we could find someone like Gary Roberts or Darcy Tucker for the top-6, I think we'd have an excellent group. Komarov is good, but he doesn't play that fearless game like Roberts and Tucker did, and he hasn't really shown much offensive talent. He's more along the lines of a Tikkanen. If we had a veteran leader who had a scoring touch, could provide a lot of energy every shift and was willing to drop them, I think we could call this team a legitimate contender.

I don't know if that kind of player exists in the league right now, though, let alone how we'd ever be able to acquire one.

Woahhh. McClement is the leash. He is the leash for those two rabid dogs. Add Brown there, and you got 3 rabid dogs running loose, you only do that when it's a blow out and you just want to get the physical win.

McLaren-Brown-Orr
Fraser-Phaneuf

Scrivens (I can see Scrivens going ape ****)

I worry that the fourth line as it stands is too slow. I'd like to see Brown reinserted, if only for the sake of having a strong skater on it to break up rushes.

The McClaren/Orr duo have played very well the last two games. But I worry about their play in the defensive zone, and while Orr scored a terrific goal in the second period against Philly, their line was also blitzed in the third on the Flyers' second goal.

Leave McClement where he is.

Link/source? I watch the RC scrums every day on the leafs site and I do not recall him ever saying such a thing.

To fill our last holes

#1 McCarthur + 3rd to San Jose for Clowe
Clowe replaces Mac

# 2 Draft Barkov...Yes it will cost a lot to move up to #3 overall but how about a deal like this

Were going to deal a surplus D for sure we have to many...Liles/Gunnarson would get us a good first

Package at draft 2 firsts and a top prospect on D ( Finn Percy) or maybe even Gardner for # 3 overall and draft #1 C

the team is set and done
