Uh yeah... because Semin and Staal is different than Giroux and Briere?

Ellis is in the net tonight against us and the Canes are banged up on the back end.

This is definitely a winnable game.

This is probably the first game where the Leafs are facing a back up goaltender instead of a starting goaltender. Considering we are 8-5 while facing all starting goalies is pretty good.

Thank god Cam Ward is not in net.

I still wouldn't underestimate Ellis. He's played well for them this year.

He's no Cam Ward, but he's also no Ben Scrivens in a way. Leafs also have a knack of making a backup goaltender look like a Vezina goaltender.

This, it would have been a different outcome, imo, had Ward not been Vezina quality that night

That is one thin defense without Gleason and Pitkanen! That means the remaining guys will tire out. Hit them hard and often, make sure it is a long 60 minutes tonight.

Faulk - Corvo
Harrison - McBain
??? - ???

Also, Ellis is a quality goalie, but still better than going against Ward.

We can make it 5!

Actually, it looks like:

Harrison-Faulk
McBain-Corvo
Jordan (AHL callup) - Sanguinetti

Corvo, Sanguinetti and McBain have all been rotating as the #7 this year because inconsistent play. Nonis can probably dump Komisarek on the Canes as they have the cap space as long as the Leafs keep some salary.

I think Tlusty is a top six player + playing with Staal and Semin doesn't hurt.

He had a rough time here but I wish him nothing but succes, the guy is only 24 years old.

We have far too many capable wingers here already.

Spread around the offense. Semin could probably play there but he plays with Skinner and J. Staal.

Pitkanen and Gleason injured, Ellis in net.

Tlusty is killing it this year.

Finally coming into his own, maybe. The kid has always had the full NHL skillset. Shame we couldn't make use of it.
