Who do you think is every team's Most Valued Player

Who do you think is currently each team's most valued asset (player who has the most value), in terms of trade value, contract, age, potential, point production etc.?

Anahiem: Getzlaf- the debate here is between Perry or Getzlaf, but
Getzlaf being a centreman is more significant

Boston: Rask- top 10 goalie in the league, and with Thomas gone
now, I think Boston would rather give up Seguin than
Rask

Buffalo: Vanek- wouldn't have said Vanek last season, but I think
teams would offer Buffalo more for Vanek than
Hodgson or Miller atm

Calgary: Kiprusoff- highly talented goaltender, but if he is currently
your teams most valued guy, your franchise is in big trouble

Carolina: Staal- self explanatory

Chicago: Toews- Of all the superstars and talent on Chicago, losing
Toews would clearly hurt them the most

Colorado: Duchene- Landeskog and Johnson both injured atm

Columbus: Johnson- Jack Johnson, Dubinsky and Anisimov really the
only players on Columbus with any real value

Dallas: Benn

Detroit: Datsyuk- 34 years old, but will still probably take more than
two first round picks to trade fro him

Edmonton: Nugent-Hopkins- who's left to centre for Edmonton if he
goes down. Also many teams in NHL
currently scrambling for centres

Florida: Huberdeau- it's not even close here

LA: Kopitar- still have to pick Kopitar over Doughty due to NHL
teams' need for centremen

Minnesota: Suter- close one between him or Parise

Montreal: Price- him over Subban

Nashville: Weber- although you can argue Rinne is more valuable to
team, Weber just has more overall value

NYI: Taveras

NYR: Lundqvist- will make you an instant contender on any team

Ottawa: Spezza- I still think Spezza over Karlsson

Philadelphia: Giroux- no question

Phoenix: Ekmann-Larsson

Pittsburgh: Crosby- you could make a valid argument for Malkin, but
there will always be that "Russian" factor with
Malkin

San Jose: Thornton- teams would still give up more for him Thornton
than Couture

St. Louis: Pietrangello- I don't think it's even close here

Tampa Bay: Stamkos- same with here

Toronto: Van RiemsDyk: there's not a team who wouldn't want him

Vancouver: Kesler- Kesler vs Schneider, take your pick

Washinton: Ovechkin- still Ovechkin

Winnipeg: Byfuglien- over Scheiffle

I think the correct answer is Edler. Kesler at his peak was definitely more valuable, but after an injury plagued season, and Edler just coming off a 50-point season, and currently just one point shy of most points on the team, and also given the current market for Dmen, I'd say he has more value to other teams.

But the Sedins have the most value to us as a franchise, and would probably require more overpayment to pry them away.

The 3 players you chose are different than the 2 I chose. This shows just how much value the Canucks have

Have you watched any Oilers game at all? Because, uh, that one guy - Sam Gagner or something? He has double the points of RNH right now. Don't get me wrong, I love RNH and I hope he gets going soon (snakebitten as ****), but give their depth at C a little credit here.

You take Ryan Nugent-Hopkins out of the equation and you have who down the center?

Sam Gagner
Shawn Horcoff
Marc Arcobello
Eric Belanger

??

That is terribad.

i'd say Zetterberg for the Wings actually

Datsyuk's a bit better but Zetterberg's a couple years younger, the captain, and isn't going anywhere until he retires unlike Datsyuk who will go back to Russia at some point(he's said in the past that he wants to finish his career there)

Value wise? He has proven next to nothing at this point.

In terms of leaguewide value I'd venture to guess these are our top 5 in order:
1.) Phil Kessel (25 years old, 4 straight 30G scorer, PPG last year. One more year at a discount 5.4M left.)

2.) Jake Gardiner (Only 22 years old, was the best rookie defenseman in 11/12. Extremely mobile and offensively gifted. Still on rookie contract.)

3.) Dion Phaneuf (He may be disliked and undervalued on HFBoards but the fact of the matter is that he is the Captain of one of the most intrusive markets in the world. He's also a 25+ minute a night defenseman who plays against the other team's best players and can contribute offensively, in a shutdown capacity, at ES/PP/PK and bring a constant element of physcality every night too.)

4.) James Van Riemsdyk (23 year old, former 2nd overall in 2007, pure goal scorer with size. He's signed long term at a fair rate and is showing his offensive prowess in an increased role this season.)

5.) Nazem Kadri (22 years old, RFA this offseason, PPG at the AHL level and finally showing his highly refined (for a rookie) two-way game to go along with a dynamic offensive game at the NHL level. He is an intriguing prospect who can play either center or wing, doesn't shy away from physical contact and is highly coachable. He was also a top 10 pick in 2009 which is always a plus.)

This season it's been between Saku Koivu, Victor Fasth, and Francois Beauchemin

that's true, it's likely one of those 3 will be the team's MVP this season, but in the trade market they're not worth as much, if you consider that Selanne basically has to retire and Getzlaf/Perry have 10+ seasons left

as far as trade value goes it's probably Bobby Ryan

Getzlaf and Perry are UFAs this offseason

As of right now, Devan Dubnyk is the Oilers MVP. RNH has been struggling to find the net these days.

I sure hope you mean best goalie in the league THIS season.

Anyway, I think it's erroneous to say that Lundqvist makes a team an instant contender. Last year was the first year in his career that the Rangers were a contender.
