The team can't possibly remain competitive enough to make it to the post-season with the current lineup. We, as Sens fans, can dream and always have faith but it is not realistic. Any team that loses their #1C, #1D, plus another top 6 forward and top 4 D-man would be in the same boat.

It's good for the kids I guess...gives guys like Zibanejad, Da Costa, Silverberg and some defencemen more icetime in the NHL. We are still in a semi-rebuild mode anyways so maybe there is a silver lining in that.

I fully agree with the last sentence, but the most out of this group still isn't very much.
Ideally Smith and Condra are 3rd liners. Smith has shown much better puck control which leads me to believe he can up his offense from last year and Condra has surprisingly been an offensive threat often due to his smart play. Yes two have been healthy scratches but that speaks more about the depth than their abilities.

Worst Sens team in years? Maybe.

Worst NHL team in years? Not at all.

And another fan who want to tell everyone how bad his own team actually is.

In reality, its a "look how many injures we have, please dont expect us to be any good" kind of thing.

How sad.

Penguins when they were tanking for Crosby were the worst rosters you'll see outside of expansion teams.

Could be a blessing in disguise if the Sens struggle. Another high pick in the mix would make that team's future even brighter.

Right now we have a borderline NHL:er playing on the first line (Zibanejad), flanked with Silfverberg, who is a second liner at best, and a 40 year old Alfredsson with back problems.

On other nights we do have Turris subbing as a first liner, but he isn't a first line center on any other team in the NHL. Michalek was out last night too, but even when he plays he looks lost without Spezza.

Defence is even worse.

Gonchar gets the most ice-time now that Karlsson is gone. And ask any fan of the Senators, he is bad, he's really bad. Phillips is way past his prime, Methot is a good defenceman but without Karlsson he will not look nearly as good as he's been.'

The goalies are the only good part of this team, with Anderson and Lehner, who for some reason is stuck in the AHL.

What do you say, is this the worst NHL-team we have seen in the league in several years?
WAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
Philadelphia is missing:
it's #1 D-man in Pronger
top 4 D-Man in Mezeros
#1 Goal scorer in Hartnell
And missed games for their #2 goal scorer in Simmonds and clutchest player in Briere

Things happen...deal with it!

Oh come on. Pronger is no longer relevant as far as the Flyers go. His career is over. That's like Bruins fans complaining about missing their "#1 Center" in Savard.

As for Ottawa, if they get a high draft pick, watch out. They got a really good team. Obviously injuries will probably keep them out of the Playoffs but I like what they have moving forward.

They have some decent players still.

They have Alfie,9Mm, 3 high potential rookies that hopefully can turn the corner in Silfverberg, DaCosta and Zibanejad and a lot of good role players.

It's really the back end that's killing them.

Obvious pimp Karlsson thread is obvious.

It was a nice subtle try, but it's obvious what the intent is.

The thing is, Philly still has players like Briere, Giroux, Couturier, the Schenns, etc. despite losing all those players.

In Ottawa's case, once we lost the players we lost, we were left with a lot of young, untested players and some really old vets (Alfredsson, Gonchar, Phillips). It's a lot tougher for Ottawa to recover from these injuries than it is for Philadelphia AINEC.

And stop calling Pronger your #1D man. The guy had a cup of coffee on your team before getting his bell rung. He's as much a part of Flyer lore as the 1+ season of Peter Forsberg.

Well, if thats the case then I am even more depressed about being an Av's fan. Because this Sens team is still doing better.

btw...its amazing what great goaltending can give you.

Starting Saturday night, you'll probably see a very "Avalanche-like" team playing wearing Senator sweaters.

We'll see you at the draft lottery! Hopefully, Steve Tambellini won't be there grinning like an idiot.

Ottawa have a very good young centre depth. Some bright players on their team too.

Avs team in 08-09 is MUCH worse.
this years Avs team as well could end up much worse as well. this Ottawa team isnt even that bad.

hilarious that people in Canadian markets know so little about small market american teams that they consistently think their team is the worst.

Kyle Turris is playing well, Anderson is playing well. I wouldn't write the Sens off yet.
