they proved that they really aren't trying... and that after embarrassing themselves, they can turn it on for a period.

you must see through this win...

Good:

The Third Period, and the majority of the first.
Nice of Stafford to finally show up.
FES and Myers with their best games of the season, IMO.

Bad:

Sekera getting hurt, seemingly severely.
No one going after Thornton after said injury.

Ugly:

The second period.
Marchand.
Lucic.
Chara.
Rayzor's "color commentary".

I always love trolling the Bruins so I won't complain about the anti-tank job these trolls just pulled on us.

Myers looks more confident out there and hopefully this game gives him that extra boost.

The effort we saw in the 3rd period is what I want to see all year, if they can bring that sort of effort every game, I will not complain so much about losing.

The dysfunction of this team remains obvious.

Wins like this won't help fix that problem.

That's the thing. The Sabres at their best can play with anyone...but they are so horrendously inconsistent, that they end up never playing at their best for more than a few minutes. The potential is there for this team to play well...which makes it so frustrating when they screw up as badly as they have. And at the end of the day, that's on Ruff.

I like that their secondary scorers are now firing on all cylinders. Makes it a bit easier to win games when Vanek cools off like we knew he would.

So conversely does that mean the Bruins didn't feel like playing hard in the 3rd?

The hilarious

Stafford, covered in sweat, is wearing a fur coat with Sabres logo on the back with a t-shirt in his post game interview

Bruins played like trash in the third. I've only had the displeasure of watching them three times, and if their play against the Sabres is indicative of the talent of that team, they're a bunch of frauds.

You are hung up on the literal definition of "they want to". I don't pretend to know NHL players' motivation levels - all I know is that I see random bursts of an actual NHL team in the Sabres. And they seem to always come against the Bruins.

That third was good hockey. They won their battles and kept it simple, for the most part.

Ott and Foligno combine for as many hits as the entire Bruins team.

G
-Big night for Myers. goal and an assist, and very physical
-I thought that the Hoff played well
-Foligno was solid

B
-It looked incidental, but I would have loved to see someone go after Thornton

U
-Sekera hurt
-The interference call on Ott when he was standing still, then Chara hauls down Pominville 20 feet away from the puck and nothing. . Night in and night out with crap like this

Here, let me spin it in a very convoluted manner to try and make you feel better...

By winning just enough, it gives Darcy enough hope that they're close and gives him the extra push to go get ROR

----

More good:
- Sekera doesn't have a knee injury apparently?

Here's a picture of Drew:

The last 4 games Miller has been awesome. He's stopped 136 of 144 shots for a .944 sv %

G: if the Sabres raised a banner for each win vs the Bruins this year, the Sabres would have many banners as the Bruins have Stanley Cups since the Sabres became a franchise (2 for those counting).

B: First 2 periods

U: Sekera's injury... hope he's okay

Miller is determined not to suck.

Rest of the team should take heed.

He's been good all year, he's probably had one or two bad games (Florida comes to mind) but other than that he's been our 2nd best player. He's made huge saves every single game on grade A scoring opportunities time after time.
