The split this year was $17-31 between corner sections. $18-28 is at least an inch closer to reality.

Kind of sucks they're doing a puck standing contest for the Dream Prize this year, you can't take games 'off' and not go if you want a shot at winning that night.

Our tickets went up.. a LOT. I don't think we're going to renew. Have to discuss it with selyar, but I don't think the value is even close.

I guess it'll be a drawing for the away games?

I'm also annoyed that its not a drawing.. I get that they want it to be more interesting, but I really hate the format and it also makes me question how random the selection is.. I'm sure the guy who won the 4 Ice Lounge season tix tonight was like "Yeah but what am I supposed to do with that luxury suite and platinum lounge seats I own?"

LOL yeah, I'm not too sure. One of the contestants sits in 232 and I thought the guy who won was up in the 200's...not completely sure though.

I guess we'll find out as the contest goes on...

Yeah, that was about the lamest thing I've seen in a while. Like a '70's game show with Grant Marshall as host.

So they have my money early, then I have to hope to get chosen as a finalist, and then I have to win at some rediculous stunt? Weak. I guess I should have waited to see how they'd do it before renewing. Coulda held onto my $$ another month.

And didn't I read they'll be doing the giveaway on away games, too, announced on the telecast? That would have to be a straight drawing, no?

My dad and I won a suite for a playoff game a few years ago (Hurricanes series) and there was a big wheel full of people's names and Grant Marshall just picked names. I hope that's how they do it.

They never did drawings during away games before. If they're doing it now that's good at least. Still I hate not having a chance to win Sunday or the couple of April games I'm not going to cause I can't do the stupid contest I probably wouldn't win anyway.

According to this
http://devils.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=87298

They're doing for every game, with winners announced on the broadcast for away games. I thought I read it somewhere.

They've done away games before...we won during an away game. Last season they didn't do away games though.

I was picking my son up at the airport and missed the game ... so instead of picking someone to win the prize, they pick two people and they compete for the prize?

Big departure from prior years (where they posted winners on the website) and a little misleading (given past procedures and the fact that it doesn't say "winner need be present' ... although I suppose it doesn't say "winner need not be present, either" on the renewal info).

Not sure what "puck standing contest" means, but i would prefer that they put the folks in those sumo wrestler outfits and let them go at it.

I remember the one year they did a game show with Grant Marshall as the host where 3 people had to guess some numbers like "What percentage of fans wear red jerseys?"

They basically had three people with three little tables with pucks on them. They had 15 seconds to stack pucks, tallest pile wins.

If I remember correctly, there are limits to what they can just "give away" without making it via the result of some sort of contest. The contest is mostly a stunt to justify the prize and I guess avoid the need for the recipient to be taxed on the additional prize. I was interning at MSG a couple years back and they had a $5,000* giveaway prize for one person for renewing. I believe the payout was technically $4,999 because $5,000 was the line where tax requirements or something would change. But even on top of that there was some kind of "game" or quiz someone would have to participate in for the prize. It may have been something that just about no one could get wrong/lose at, but it was done because of some technicalities. Devils are probably operating under the same restrictions here.

They'll come find you or call you and let you know you're participating would be my guess. There's no sign-up.

Anyone sign up for the Seton Hall vs Rutgers game tonight at The Rock-as part of the Tuesday season ticket holder perks?

Where are the seats, corner?

As anyone participated in skating on the rink after the game? Where did they make you leave your skates?

I'm doing it tomorrow night. Here's what they said in the email:

Quote:
For those of you who have your own personal skates, we strongly encourage you to bring them. You can easily check them in prior to the start of the game at the Cure Club and then pick them up after the game and get right on the ice. To get to the Cure Club, you will enter the arena through the Lincoln VIP entrance located on Mulberry Street. Once you enter, a Fan Experience Team member will direct you where to go to drop off your skates and then head out to your seats for the game.

Worst marketing campaign in the history of man.

Four Ice Lounge seasons are worth $25k. They literally handed a guy $25k of winnings and no one in the audience even knew it happened or why.

They give Ford five minutes at center ice 40 times a year for the drastically improbable potential of winning a prize of about the same value. And for their own certain giveaway it's 15 seconds once on the screen with no explanation or fanfare.

Why in the world do you hand someone $25k as a reward for being a season ticket holder and be quiet about it? OMG.

Am I missing something on my math?

I'm with ya. That's probably one of the more valueable prizes they ever give away and it was shown as an afterthought during a break on the jumbo.

And I guess they gave away the biggest prize the first night, to reward the people who renewed the earliest. So do we expect worse and worse prizes as the games go on? Kinda the reverse of what you'd expect.

Whatever. I never win anything anyway.

Well, Ford PAYS them for five minutes at center ice at every game. All of the commercials/stoppages/etc are available as time for someone to pay them for whatever kind of advertising/promotion. Considering most of that air time is filled (even things like the train races have a quick sponsor thrown on it, even if only a brief mention and a couple of logos), they are left with two options: use what little available time they have for some kind of promo (which they did), or turn away paid air time from sponsors for their own promotional purposes (which would make said sponsors quite unhappy). There really isn't much choice in the matter.
