Cool news. Time to look up more about him
Looking for a way to send Weircoch back down I guess.

Edit: Or just increasing our prospect pool I guess...20 year old rookie in the KHL. 20 points in 44 games.

Wouldn't Benoit be sent down before Weir?

Never heard of the guy, but from what I know of d-men and scoring in the KHL, he's got some decent stats.

He's got 20 points and a +8. He's young too, a 1992 DOB.

What's his story?

Wiercioch is the last guy getting sent down, if anyone is getting sent down its Boro then Benoit.

If anything Wire might get a promotion to the 2nd pair with Conch.

I think Benoit has to enter Waivers, where ase Weircoch doesn't. But either way, Bingo needs Benoit/Weir/Boro back or at least 1-2 of them.

He's rather small too at 5'10". Another PMD?

Those size stats are outdated. TheKHL website says hhe's 178lbs, but doesn't show height, I am guessing 5'11.

I guess they'd base their pairings on chemistry:
New dude - Gonchar
Wiercioch - Benoit

If he made he KHL allstar game as a Russian (as opposed to someone who had to go overseas to play) he should be good.

Play him with Gonch, Boro to Bingo, Benoit to the healthy scratch

Not bad for a 20 year old 5'10-5'11 rookie.

Was talking to a friend of mine who viewed some KHL games this year while tracking Gonch and he told me this guy is a standout defender as a rookie. He is the youngest defender in the top 15 in d-men scoring by at least 6 years, outside of obviously Victor Hedman

An extremely smart player who plays a solid 2 way game, his smart play keeps him off the box and used in all-situations.

I'm surprised if Ottawa gets him this quick with no challenge from other teams. I'm thinking his pedigree is too good to ignore as a free asset to obtain even though he is Russian.

Not gonna lie, I'm just impressed Murray is even interested in a young Russian prospect in the first place.

Baby steps, I guess...

I think Murray's only problem with Russians is drafting them. If they\re free or proven in NA hes fine with them.

Obviously a small guy, which maybe why he has not got any attention until now. Not sure how up to date the numbers are but at 5 10 and 152 lbs. He has some work to do if the NHL is in his future.
