I'm very fortunate to have Lansdale Electric and not PECO.

My parents live in Fairless Hills Bucks County...same predicament but they have a generator. Their street is terrible with power outages. Another ice storm possible midweek...this crap is getting ridiculous. Slovenia and Austria also experiencing nasty icy weather. Jet stream all janked up right now.

not sure about down where you guys are but the local reports are saying that the ingredients for the big storm on Sunday and Monday will not come together. most of it will head off the south.
good news if everyone is spared what could of been a very bad storm.

i used to live in a town that had PSNH(public service co of New Hampshire). they are the worst. they have some of the highest kilowatt rates in the country.
when we got that ice storm here 6 years ago and there was tens of thousands without power they raised the rates the following summer to recoup the money they lost during the outage.
glad i dont have them anymore. they ****ing suck.

The weather in the southern part of NJ is better than the north and PA. My parents just got rain the last 2 storms in Salem county.

It's the 2nd worst state for taxes, one of the most corrupt and worst run states. I'm only moving back there for the free child care and 30% raise. If she wants to be in the states, Texas and North Carolina are your best bets.

My comprehensive exams are this weekend. If I pass, I should be about a year from being a doctor (PhD). Life is stressful.

I love the snow. All you haters.

This weeks storm really does look like it has potential. The lastest NAM computer model just had 3 inches of rain associated with the storm, but thats probably overdone. That would call for 20-30 inches of snow lol.

Seems like the local mets are getting on board as well with the storm. CBS3 and NBC10 are generally the two good stations to keep an eye on for the storm. CBS3 seems to be a little more accurate though usually.

Right now Mount holly released their map, it's 6-8, which is already up from this mornings 4-6. I think that will continue to go up as the stor develops and the models can sample the data more.

The ice I don't really think is a big concern either, looking like I95 and east will be mostly if not all snow.
Two good follows on twitter for the weather around here.

The nam over 48 hours out is one of my favorite fantasy models...never will happen lol personally though I think 6 inches is a lock at this point. About 95 and east being all snow...I don't know. The euro had a lot of sleet for those areas today and then ending as a cold rain. Still about 6 inches of cement snow before that point though. I'm pessimistic about every storm though just because climatologically speaking, 100% all snow storms for philly aren't all that common. This year has been something for sure! I honestly can't remember a winter with so many days of snow cover. I love it. And after this storm it looks like there may be another clipper bringing more cold and another quick 1-3.

And even when it does, it's back on in a few hours. When I lost power during Hurricane Sandy, they were outside my house in the middle of the storm trying to fix the transformer. Like I said, I'm very fortunate

MD's state legislature started refusing rate increases for utility companies after bad storms...until those companies began taking proactive measures to limit power outages, like trimming trees back from lines more than once a decade.

Not surprisingly, PEPCO (especially PEPCO) and BGE (mostly because of the example made of PEPCO) have improved dramatically in the last few years.

* TIMING... PRECIPITATION SHOULD BEGIN AS MOSTLY SNOW WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW IS FORECAST TO CHANGE OVER TO A SNOW... SLEET... AND FREEZING RAIN MIX DURING THE DAY THURSDAY... BEFORE CHANGING TO SNOW AND TAPERING OFF THURSDAY NIGHT.

When the bulk of the storm is hitting i'm not really sure.
