Sorry if this has been answered ...

So O'Reilly is now signed for two seasons with the AVS. Is one of those seasons THIS season? In other words for the next two months + playoffs would be considered one of those two years? If so, would he technically be eligible to be traded this summer if the AVS want to move him? Clarify please.

Now you guys could come back to earth accepting that ROR won't sign here...

...Getzlaf on the other...... hand

No seriously.
Ship out Stafford + Leopold + prospect for Grabner and Bailey/Nielsen.

Try to sign Getzlaf.

Roster 2013/14:

Vanek - Hodgson - Pominville
Ennis - Getzlaf - Armia
Foligno - Grigorenko - Grabner
Leino/Ott - Nielsen - Kaleta/Tropp

That prospect would probably have to be considerable, otherwise the Islanders don't get any better and they definitely get older. I also think projecting Armia to play stop six minutes in the NHL next year is very optimistic.

Getzlaf loves it where he is. Pipe dream world that he leaves at all. Even less it's for Buffalo.

Potential topics of speculation:

Who replaces Regehr and Leopold on the blueline?
Do they finally find someone who can play defensive center well? If so, who?
Do they fish for some scoring on the wing in free agency or via trade? If so, who?
Who is in net for them going forward? Starter? Backup?
Do they retain Vanek/Pominville up front?

If Calgary had obtained O'Reilly, I was hoping that Backlund would've popped free. He's an underrated defensive center, and plays a good possession game, as well.

Pretty sure the rule states Calendar year, so not until next Feb, when he will be an upcoming RFA....again

It's my understanding that he'll have 2 RFA years left AFTER this deal is up.

IF Colorado is willing to tender him a QO at $6.5m. That price might be too high for them for a QO, which means the Avs could overpay him for the next season and a half and then lose him for nothing, since they wouldn't be able to trade him during the season.

And Washington, as of right now.

But ROR won't be on waivers, so it doesn't matter.

Once again, I'm going to bring up Goc. Unless Bozak and Gordon hit the market this summer, and each have a few reasons not to, we're going to *have* to trade for a defensive pivot.

If put on waivers yesterday based on tie-breakers, Buffalo would've been slotted #2, Wash #3

He wouldn't be put on waivers until such time as he was no longer in Colorado's organization. Thus, the effective date for waivers would've been March 7, not February 28.

The time he's no longer in Colorado's organization is the time Col officially doesn't match...can be before the 7 days are up...
They could've announced yesterday that they weren't going to match...

Somebody on the Trades board that claims to have ties to Mitch Korn suggested that Buffalo and St. Louis are talking trade.

I don't buy it whatsoever, but because the O'Reilly talk is over, I figured it'd be an interesting topic to navigate towards.

The trade went as such:

To Buffalo: Berglund, Oshie
To St. Louis: Myers

Like I said - this seems like a ridiculous move on St. Louis' part and I don't believe it. But hypothetically speaking, if I'm Regier, I'm all over it. I'm also doing my best to shore up the defense by moving some forwards (Ennis/Hodgson) for Yandle/other defenseman.

I don't know much about Berglund, and I don't have the slightest clue as to how to read advanced stats, so if anyone could enlighten me on his game/teach me mre abouot advanced stats, I'd appreciate it.

Would Buffalo have any interest in David Perron? The price tag would be high, but his 3.8 cap hit until '15-'16 is damn sexy. I see him as a perfect left wing for our 2nd line.

and for that to happen, I'd offer..

Stafford, McCabe and a 2nd. Probably wouldn't get it done but that's my starting point.

Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville
Perron-Ennis-Ott

Top 6 immediately looks better.

Edit: Looks like I'm not the only one who thinks the Blues and Sabres would be good trading partners.

In which case we would've been 3rd in priority today at 12pm. It's an academic discussion, in any event. Does anyone think he would've made it past JD and Jarmo in Cbus? No chance.
