I haven't been paying attention to Kassian lately, but I'm assuming he's not necessarily "the best power forward in the game" anymore?

Most knew they'd probably have to wait a couple years before deciding who actually won.

The only thing that is evident is that Hodgson is an excellent fit in Buffalo. That trade was something this club needs to do, make the hard trade to try improve your team.

Vancouver made it to try make that next step, we are in the same position. Except our next step is to get out of the lottery and their's is to win the cup.

Some pre-mature Luciciation. Everyone does it.

Healy and Spec talking re-alignment earlier. It was interesting that Healy said if the players vote this down that the league most likely pushes this through and if they get grieved they will just say that the Union has never in the history of the NHL helped with re-alignment and will hope it passes.

The other note was Spec was saying 6-7% harder to make it in the East, which of course is the issue. But how much harder is the travel in the West doesn't that make up the difference?

I really haven't cared too much about re-alignment, I go to the game and watch them because of our team not who might be coming, but it caught my hear with those two comments.

Surprise, surprise... the Flames get another tired team in the Sharks playing their second game of a back-to-back in Calgary. Anyone know if the Flames benefit disproportionately from this situation or it is just skewed half way through the shortened season and will even out over the long haul?

I would love to see the stats on how many backup goalies and teams on the 2nd half of a back to back the Flames have faced. It has to be top of the league. They'd be behind Columbus without them.

If we didn't back log our arena with so many events we probably could complain about the schedule.

Yup, I pointed this out earlier. I think we've played a grand total of two teams on their second half of back to backs: St Louis and Vancouver. And both of those teams were at home the previous game.

Just counted myself and the Oilers play 7 teams that are on their second game of a back-to-back. Only 3 of these games are at home. The Flames, on the other hand, play 11 teams that are on their second game of a back-to-back (Buffalo leads the league with 13), and of those games a whopping 10 of them are home games, which ties Buffalo for the lead.

Again you ask for 3 weeks of no home building because of the Brier and this is what happens. Add the annual CFR and it would've been even worse.

Once we get our own building we'll be able to make some demands, but until then we are SOL.

Honestly if we were competing for a playoff spot I'd be a little ticked off. But if that inequality helps lead to a better first-round pick this year, no big deal.

The new arena won't be doing the CFR and Brier? Seems like Katz would be pushing hard for the revenue. I'll admit I wasn't paying attention to negotiations.

In other news the Avs lead the Hawks 2-1 after 2 periods. Varlamov is hot. Tonight might be the night.

Especially on a play where there should've been a penalty. Lol

Like I said last week, too many bounces and calls/noncalls going their way. It's destiny!

It's true. The Hawks for the past maybe 5-10 games have had stretches where they've looked dominant but seem to let up. Different than the start of the year. Fatigue is starting to catch up to them

Gotta admit... that Hawks-Avs game was about 1500% more interesting and entertaining than the average Oilers game.

this...watching CHI shows me what good hockey is like

I love the way they support the puck and when something is not there...they make the SIMPLE play
