The Sabres management has actually set standards for their team.

I wish the Oilers did the same.

They kept a coach for over a decade. The Sabres have done almost nothing since '07.

They haven't had a great roster since 2007. I'd say this is the first year since then where they are truly under performing.

They had a pretty decent one last year. Although Miller got hurt.

Damn. If we had rehired Renney and had this start we could replace him with Ruff. But with Krueger only 15 games into his NHL coaching career, no way the Oilers make a change.

I remember when there were rumblings that the Oilers were waiting on their coaching decision to see what the Sabres did with Ruff in the offseason. Would have been interesting to see Ruff as coach of the Oil.

Oh well

The difference is that Buffalo is willing to make changes midseason to try to turn their season around.

Our management just sits back and watches the ship sink.

So let's fire the coach less than 20 games into the season..?
Buffalo had him for ten years and you're applauding this change now?

"Promote" Krueger and hire Ruff... simple.

I'm applauding them for recognizing that Ruff was holding the team back this year and addressing the issue right now instead of giving up on the season and trying again next year with a new coach.

All of the Oilers coaches were around when we finished 30th in '11 and 29th in 12. Without Renney at the helm, we look even worse. Our strong suit is supposed to be offence and we are scoring less than one even strength goal per game. Our team hasn't looked this disorganized since Quinn was in charge. I'd definitely look into firing some people at this point.

I seriously do not understand the thought process of Oiler fans.

firing the coach isn't the answer. its 15 games into the season. I'm personally of the opinion that our offense is good, it just needs time to gel and opportunity to do so, with the short season and barely any practices im of the opinion that we shouldn't jump to any massive conclusion yet, the talent is there.

the weak spot is the D and to be honest, its a weakness on paper, on the ice they haven't been as bad as everyone here likes to think.

So, cue the pissed off Oilers fans again. Flames get the Kings after the Oilers on a back to back and they get the back up goalie again

Why can't our games be this exciting? Flyers/Penguins is ridiculous.

Eastern Conference. Elliotte Friedman's tweet says it all.

The NHL is better when players decline to participate in defence.

if the oilers gave up 5 or 6 goals in a game there will be 4 threads about trading every defenceman and both goalies...win or lose
