1. Vladimir Tarasenko, RW, St. Louis Blues
Drafted 16th overall (1st round) in 2010
Rumored to be headed to the NHL last year, and viewed by one player personnel director of a rival club as the top forward outside the NHL, Tarasenko was scoring at a point-per-game pace for KHL club SKA St. Petersburg (14 goals, 17 assists in 31 games) prior to the NHL lockout's end.
Tarasenko made his NHL debut with a bang. After scoring two goals in the Blues opening 6-0 win against Detroit, he had a goal and two assists two nights later in a 4-3 shootout win in Nashville.
In seven January games for the Blues, Tarasenko scored five goals with four assists and was a +6 while averaging over 15 minutes of ice time.
