I get seasick on the dock...let alone even being remotely close to a boat...

Would want to do a Baltic cruise, or Mediterranean. Royal Carribean was great, not too many kids but still a young enough crowd that I could have fun.

When I went to Scandinavia there weren't a lot of people my age on the boat either but I didn't really care. Got to get off the boat and get some great pictures of Norway.

Things might be different on a Caribbean cruise though. Not s ure.

Many things happen within the cruise industry that you will never hear about because there is next to no oversight.
They seem to do just fine without "oversight." Their half a million passengers per year serve as ample oversight, as does the threat of news-making incidents. Not all industries (in fact, most) don't need government to police them. You could set up a big government agency for regulating the domestic cruise industry and you'd still have the odd engine fire and occasionally poor service. All you'd really accomplish is to place a greater burden on taxpayers (or spending cuts elsewhere) to pay for the agency and to raise ticket prices (perhaps significantly) to pay for the lines' myriad of compliance costs.

For the second time this week, Carnival Cruise Lines says one of its ships has experienced problems during a cruise.

Late Thursday, the company said "a technical issue" affecting the sailing speed of the Carnival Legend forced the cancellation of a stop at Grand Cayman Islands.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://*******/15Qdu3a ) reports the ship is expected to arrive in Tampa as scheduled Sunday following a seven-day cruise. Passengers will get a $100 credit, refunds on pre-purchased shore excursions in Grand Cayman and half off on a future cruise.

Never. Don't like the idea of being stuck somewhere for that long.

Paid $225/person for the Premium Beverage package on our Celebrity cruise in April. All drinks under $12 are included in the package in all restaurants, bars, etc.

I realize how it works. You're still on the boat a lot, and as I said, I personally don't like being stuck places.

I think for us this cruise it's 35 dollars a person per day. Comes to 315 total for the 9 day cruise.

Our is 4 nights, so $56/day. Pricey, but worth it.

Which cruise line for yours?

I went from NYC to Hamburg, Germany with Queen Mary II.
It was a wonderful experience. I recommend it very much.

I've done a few and they're awesome.

I hope the recent problems lower the prices so I can do more.

Ban Carnival, because that's where all the clowns come from.

No, I would not. Seems to be to much trouble surrounding them as of late.

But they're all limited to one company. Costa is a division of Carnival.

Just go on another cruise company and you'll be fine. You are really missing out.

Went on a Carnival cruise in January. Had one of the best weeks of my life, and I'm definitely not in their main age demographic.

That said it had very little to do with cruise ship itself and much more to do with the 28 other people in our party.

It's worth trying at least once IMO, but I don't plan on going to another cruise anytime soon.
