Alzner: no doubt a keeper

Carlson: he's only 23 but I don't think it would hurt to at least cut back his minutes to send a message. Or try him with a different d-man. No trade though.

Green: he was playing good hockey before the re-injury and to think he's re-injured again is problematic. No trade though. Given his history he's maybe of more value to the Caps ATM.

Kundratek: really surprised at how he has held up. But I'd consider him to be trade bait.

Orlov: he's a keeper too. I'm concerned though about the side he'll have to play. I see a lot of a younger Hamrlik in him. Creative, physical, good shot. Like his game.

Hamrlik: I really wish he would have been given more of a chance. I saw nothing in his play that warranted being scratched - certainly nothing that was any worse than anybody else at the time. Lockout problems? Pair w/ Carlson? Won't be re-signed if not traded. Only months removed from a good playoff showing - tops + / - minus and ES d-men points.

Poti: he's not a bad vet to have around if he's not bothered by his injury. Doubt he's re-signed though but you never know.

Schultz: will he become the next Chara? <sarcasm>

Erskine: good 6th / 7th d-man.

Hillen: why was he signed?

I was kinda "meh" on the Green extension, now I'm so ****ing over it. Deal him for a 2nd rounder if you have to/can get it at this point.

Yeah I think I am finally on the bandwagon to move on from Mr. Glass.

He's a crutch on the roster who makes them look better on paper than they are because you can't count on him being in the lineup. Sure some other training staff might figure a way to keep him healthy and he could end up a HoFer but that is a risk I have no problem taking at this point.

Of course that means they would need 2 top 4 caliber blueliners but for what they are paying him plus what they won't be paying Hamrlik abd Poti next season they will have the cash.

Plus come deadline time if he is healthy, I know big if but still, someone will pay a pretty steep price for him IMO.

Seeing Seidenberg in the playoffs last year... sigh. I wanted him at the deadline a few years back. Maybe more than once.

George would probably sit him over Sarge, however.

I will be a fish upstream and say we need to hold Glass Green for now, unless someone can come up with a trade idea that supplants him with someone as good that will not get injured.

It would seem many think we need to upgrade address 1LD first.

Hogwash about trading Green. He's been excellent and can get over the injury bug like others have in the past like Lehtonen in Dallas.

One thing however that NO ONE mentions....we know the ice is bad at Verzion but we seem to get a lot of groin injuries and mysterious ones at that. Sutherby, Clark, Varlamov, Green and Poti for example.

Why is no one talking about our Training Staff or Medical Staff? Varlamov and his agent seemed to think it was an issue...he has been healthy for Colorado last I checked. Maybe he was onto something?

Before we dump Green (or the next scapegoat) why not examine some of the ancillary staff members?

If it's for cheap, fine (given that the cap is going down, "cheap" might entail a slight cut IMO, but who really knows). If it's to be the go-to #4 from here on out, hoo boy...

On Green, I still worry about the breakout without him on the back end. I think a feasible solution to that needs to be found before he's traded. Are Orlov and Carlson good enough to handle that? Does a short-term deal for Streit, Visnovsky, or Zidlicky work? Do you trade for another puck mover?

You know Mark Tinordi never got drafted...he played a bit for the Rags and they thought he was nothing more than a depth dman/goon.

Most Dmen take a long time to find their groove and some don't hit their stride til much later than others.

You can do alot worse at the #4 spot than Erskine. Not optimal but its not the end of the world in a Salary cap environment.

Streit is a great transition guy. Pair him with Scuderi and you have a top pairing for about than the cost of Schultz, Poti and Hamrlik.

Good for Erskine. It is a recognition by George that our lineup sans Ovi Erskine and Hendy, remains worthless and weak. Predicting 250K Raise.

I half expected it to be Poti being re-upped. Of course, had it been Poti, it would have been before the season started.

I wonder if Erskine will get any muffin-based incentives.

I guess overpaying everyone by 500k is actually a plus in a GM if you're trying to reach the cap floor.

Streit is playing Poti bad right now. Could be just tired of the island or could be washed up. Signs seem to point to the latter.

Of course, both him and Whitney are gonna get overpaid to hell since the offseason is so short on PMDs with a resume.

He had a .92 last year and .93 the year before. His sv pctg has been climbing the last couple weeks. He's just a kid too and will get better and more consistent.

Great signing. Everything less than 2.2 I thought would be fantastic. I could leave with anything up to 2.5. 1.85 is almost a dream.
