Why is it that Holtby is "just a kid" and "will get more consistent" but Neuvy is already some hasbeen who has hit his ceiling?

Considering Hunter and Oates both went with Holtby, they probably see something in him that Noovy doesn't have. Not saying Noovy is crap or anything, just that they seem to have more confidence in him.

Well then I don't have confidence in them, since Neuvy has definitely outplayed Holtby this season.

Yup.

Neuvirth at the same point with a similar NHL resume, better AHL resume, and the exact same upcoming cap ceiling got $1.15M per.

Exact quote coming soon, but #Caps Troy Brouwer just said some days he didn't know if Semin was going to show up or not. #shotsfired" - Corey Masisak

They have a lot more faith in Holtby and he wasn't trying to beat the starter to the punch in re-upping on the cheap. There was definitely the potential for him to leverage them for more later on.

I have more of an issue with Erskine re-signing at close to $2M than Holtby's deal, particularly given the shrinking cap and need to get Alzner & Ribeiro done. Erskine's had a solid start to the season but he shouldn't be considered a high priority item. If it hastens Schultz's eventual departure then carry on I guess.

Mike Vogel @VogsCaps 19m
#Caps have signed D-man John Erskine to a 2-year extension for a total of $3.9 million. Erskine gets $1.9 mil in '13-14, $2 mil in '14-15.

Who said Neuvirth is a "hasbeen"?? Not me I can tell you that.

I have confidence in all our young players like Carlson, Holtby etc...including Neuvirth.

With that contract, it seems like McPhee's pretty happy with Erskine as 3LD for the near future. Maybe, just maybe this means Schultz really is on his way out? ...Assuming McPhee can't possibly want him as 2LD...

Are you being sarcastic? Holtby has been excellent as of late and overall, if anything, they have been about the same. With Holtby starting slower and coming on as of late.

RE: Erskine - He kills 2 birds with one stone. Physical Dman and Enforcer. We have neither in our organization right now oustide of him.

Wow! Capgeek is quick, they've already updated the Capitals with Holtby and Erskine's signings. Currently projecting the cap space now for the Caps for next season at 16.5 mil. Still need to resign UFAs Ribeiro, Fehr, Hendricks along with RFAs Alzner and Kundratek.

Apparently not ....

#CapitalsTalk Brouwer on Semin: "It's tough to play alongside guys like those because you don't know what you're going to get out of them."

Brouwer on Semin "It was tough to lose his scoring ability when he wanted to play but all in all I think we’ve been doing well without him."

Nothing to see here, move along, the shows over.

And extend Neuvirth or sign another cheap backup.

Chimera leaves practice early with lower body injury according to Oates. May not dress for tomorrow night's game.

Wondering if he tweaked what might have been ailing him previously and is the explanation for him "losing a step".

Neuvy still with one more year left before he's a RFA. Wondering if GMGM's waiting to see how Grubauer progresses to see which way they should go with Neuvy.

I seriously don't know wether to laugh or ****ing cry at how much we pay our defensemen to ****ing sit in the pressbox.

I "like" Erskine, but he's not even an every day guy when all are healthy. He's one of the press box rotaters and we reward him with a triple pay bump?

Get the **** out.
