The difference between real life and NHL 13 us that player don't just get better because you play them hard, and there is a reason why Kreider is in the AHL, and it's not bcos Torts hare him, it's simply because he's not ready yet. Might be in a couple of weeks, nobody knows how he will adjust to the NHL-level. ....
He said Stepan was more "valuable" than Kreider, IMO he is not.
Kreider is obviously WAY more gifted, and based on the handful of performances to date, gives every indication that once completely unshackled he will far exceed any reasonable expectations for Stepan.

Have complained about Torts but don't remember saying he hated CK, and for a guy who has had a minimum of AHL experience because he opted the college route, I have no problem getting him some experience and full time development while the big club continues to sort things out.

But unarguably, the fact that Rangers were desperate enough to burn an entire year of ELC just to have him proves his future is in NY sooner than later.

You're entitled to your opinion of my commentary. However that is opinion, as to objective qualification, your comments in bold are proven to be both wrong and excessive.

As and for just one example, the most recent is that JT Miller was in fact worth calling up to take a look, and despite yes, I admit he would benefit from more development, he would cut the mustard when he got here.

I got that completely right, and I was in the minority of a handful saying so.

Quote:
Stepan could only be traded in a deal that brings back a better, equally young center. That's it. That's the only possible logic towards trading Stepan. Suggesting otherwise has no basis in reality.
IMO, no that's being closeminded. Detractors who say stuff like this ^ ignore what is undeniably actual reality: so as life is not an isolated snapshot but a moving picture of multiple images combined, so is a club's trade results, overall, not limited to just one deal but the totality of moves made.

If Stepan+ gets you Yandle, Yandle makes Girardi expendable, Girardi gets you a better C than Stepan.
You look at the net result of ALL deals.

Quote:
Stepan for Yandle is a complete fantasy.
I believe I have emphasized it would be Stepan + not just Stepan, and Stepan for Yandle was used as to principals, so a final deal would have to be Stepan + for Yandle +.

You ignored the qualification I posted about how there have been so many threads about Coyotes D, possibly even Yandle, being moved for acceptable Fs in return.

Therefore, it is NOT because, ego sum, I AM, by fiat, saying this is so, that it is in fact so as though it were some type of edict; this deal is possible in some incarnation because the real truth is

Phx has desire to improve at F and has enough D it could move Yandle for the right return.
and
Rangers desire/need to further improve, and could offer Stepan, and should do so on principle if ANY upgrade, not just only upgrade at C, is end result regardless of fact that Miller can step in/

No charge for the free comedy show! Kudos to you for the great imagery You may have a future in fantasy film!

Quote:
You're previous trade "proposals" have included all 4 of the Rangers star D men, Richards, Gaborik, Stepan, Callahan, and mostly all of the prospects for over the hill, less skilled and over paid stars. I would not be surprised to see Lundqvist being included in there one day too.
You are not looking at the returns in those deals. An upgrade, or cap relief or other benefit was involved. Staal + Girardi + for RNH+ is one example.

THERE ARE NO SACRED COWS.

We need to be open minded to keep upgrading.
And admit to it, my friend, upgrading is necessary.
I invite you to be part of the solution to focus on that need, and not part of the problem of those who would ignore it.

Quote:
When will it end Bern, when will it end?
Upgrading will be constant, although while we can never entirely rest on our proverbial laurels, if we sustain a level of excellence like the Canadiens in their best dynasty, we can give it a temporary break.

That dearth of consistent centers is also why, according to a Friday report the Daily News has confirmed, the Rangers are one of several teams who have shown interest in restricted free agent center Ryan O’Reilly, 22, who appears more likely to leave the Colorado Avalanche via trade or offer sheet than to re-sign with the Western Conference club. O’Reilly’s financial demands are steep coming off his entry-level deal, but he is fielding his options.

Agreed, its obvious they can only bring in rentals, antropov types and they have a bunch of 3rds. Only player they may move is Boyle but its unlikely since its too risky to rely on miller or Kreider in the playoffs.

There's a reason why you have the ability to manage an ignore list on these boards.

ROR is not happening. He would cost too much and he is not much better than Stepan, if he is at all...considering the majority here are on the stepan hate bandwagon because he isn't lighting it up. It shows the character of ROR trying to cash in on one good season because his totals certainly not great. His team
is banged up and he is holding out. I'm not overpaying for potential.

Our team is not that far off. There are defensive lapses, but the chemistry is getting there and they are right in the thick of things. Let them gel, stop trying to alter the team after every loss; its why this team got off to a slow start, a lot of new faces.

I do disagree with the kreider demotion. I don't think he was bad at all, his defense needs work but then again Rick Nash hasn't exactly been stellar in his own end. Too loose on the point men, slow reactions...but I don't hear the criticism on him...

Hope you are not referring to me. I just posted a link where I quote a newspaper again claim there is some validity to the rumor about the Rangers inquiring about ROR. If he wants the $$ he is supposedly talking about - forget it... he will not be coming this way

I was absolutely not referencing you BBKers. It was referencing other members on these boards. Some that I cannot see their posts unless another poster quotes it.

Just stay the course.

Friend of mine in Montreal says Sens will trade a 5th or 6th rd pick for Yannick Weber. The Rangers can use him as a #6, good shot, can hit.

Who here knows something about Peter Mueller? How is he defensively (I know he is good offensively)? Also, where does he play on the PP (iirc it was the right point)?

Might be a good option for us to look into. He is young enough too where he could be someone that continues to be a part of the core.

Edit: Darn, seems he plays RW now in days versus C. And there's a good chance the panthers will be sellers this year, probably not good trade partners for Mueller.

only 69 draws though so small sample...and most telling is that he is 5th on flames in faceoffs taken. question how much of a faceoff specialist he is when the flames use iginla and tanguay more on faceoffs

Elliot Friedman on HNIC said the Rangers had talks about ROR plus a dman in exchange for Del Zotto but the Avs got greedy and the deal is off for now.

Elliotte Friedman says Avs talked to Rangers about getting Michael Del Zotto for O'Reilly. But they also wanted more
With O'Reilly's contract demands, I wouldn't even offer MDZ straight up. I assume he means that Colorado wanted more, and not that the Rangers wanted O'Reilly+.

EDIT: Beaten to it by Trjxw; glad you actually saw the segment. I'd consider moving MDZ for O'Reilly+, depending on the plus.

I want nothing to do with O'Reilly. Absolutely nothing. A joke that DZ was even offered, unless the d-men with O'Reilly was Elliot, Barrie or Johnson.

Was watching that too. Interesting to say the least. Sather is a stubborn SOB when it comes to trades. He gets deals done on his terms. The Avs are shooting for the moon with this deal (and rightfully so, ROR is one extremely solid player) and I just don't see the Rangers being the team desperate enough to overpay.

Friedman reported the Rangers talked to the Avs this week. O'Reilly and a defenseman to the Rangers. DZ was the main player in the deal but the Avs kept adding players. The Rangers backed away. Healey reported the Avs want 2 roster players, top prospect and top pick. The Avs have targeted some teams in the O'Reilly talks. Goligoski went for Neal and Niskanen.

DZ for ROR? If we got a capable D man in the deal as well, I wouldn't be too opposed to it, but I would be very cautious of ROR's contract demands. He seems to want to cash in on one good year. Not a good sign.
