Tuesday's game will be way better than the first Chicago - Vancouver game.

Lol, can I hear your rational line of thought about the subject? What makes hockey so different from every other major sport to implement this system?

Hawks seem to have at least one complete stinker against Vancouver at home every year. I think they only play once in Chicago this year... really hope this isn't that game

Streak will end Feb 25th when the Oilers beat them 11-9

Gagner gets 5 points in the first period but stops so that his stats will be counted on HF

Yep. And even then, a win/OT or SO loss to Vancouver just ties the streak. Have to avoid a regulation loss vs. SJ after that to set the new record.

This is of course assuming we see no comeback from LA today, which looks doubtful but still can't be counted out.

Our last game vs Chicago was pretty tame. If the next game is for the record, then things could get interesting...Hopefully it wil at least be more exciting than our last game.

Seconded. That was the most dull Vancouver/Chicago matchup in years.

Actually to "Take Over" the record...

If the Hawks win against Van on Tuesday in Regulation, the Hawks will beat the record of "MOST" consecutive points gained without a regulation loss. Ducks went 12-0-4, with a regulation win in there next game, it would put the Hawks above them at 13-0-3, gaining 1 more point then the Ducks in the same amount of games played.

The record isn't the most points to start the season, its the most consecutive games with a point. Van is for the tie, SJ is to take over the record.

I understand that. What i meant is as far as the record books are concerned, with a win on Tuesday, the Hawks would be listed higher then the Ducks when looking at there respected records. Its like that with any sport when there is a tie.

13-0-3 (in the record book) is better then 12-0-4. One more win is better then One more overtime loss, from a record stand point. And as i stated, with a win they would take over in most points gained in the same amount of games played.

So yes, when looking at the record book, the Hawks (with a win on Tuesday) would indeed go above the ducks when lookin at the top team in the record book.

Thats what i meant by "Take Over", meaning the Hawks would be listed above the Ducks. Not a big deal, just something worth mentioning.

^^ This. The Hawks will own the record because of their better record...regardless of what anyone says.

Wouldn't it still being considered a tie? Like has been said before, isn't it games, meaning 16 games?

I understand that it's more impressive than the Ducks 12-0-4, but it will still be a tie in the record books. The record is "most games without a regulation loss".

What is most impressive with this streak is the schedule the hawks have had. 10 of the first 12 on the road 6 games in the first nine days.

Really, you could argue there is 2 different records. Consecutive games to start the season without losing in regulation AND most points to start a season without a regulation loss.

yep. As soon as the schedule was released I wrote the hawks chances as a contender off. I thought that would just be too much to overcome. They really proved me wrong. And now, because they've done so well, they get a relatively cushy schedule for the rest of the season as a result, making them WC and president's trophy favorites.
