Were Roenick and Doan linemates in Phoenix? Was it Tkachuk - Roenick - Doan?

I know Doan pretty much exclusively plays RW in the NHL, but often plays LW in international games.

Yeah they played together with Tkachuk if I recall correctly.

I don't think Doan exclusively played RW , though he probably played it a bit more.

I'm pretty sure he's capable of playing on both side.

The chemistry with Roenick is not why I drafted him though. It's just a bonus.

You're going to have to prove that he ever played anything but RW in the NHL, I don't think he did.

When I had Doan before (and used him at LW like you are), I looked into it, and it seemed like in Phoenix, where Doan is something of a star, they pretty much always kept him at RW and built the rest of the team around him. For Team Canada, where he's a role player, he seemed to be slotted in on whichever wing needed him, which was often the left side.

Oh he did, infact it was the main reason people speculateed that he was going to the rangers last summer... To boost their left wing.

Didn't Doan actually play LW last year? Or did I possibly make that up?

Well, what do you know? I googled "shane doan left wing" and found two listings of him as a LW that didn't exist in ATD2011 when I had him:

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/playe...hane_doan.html
http://www.ontheforecheck.com/2012/7...hl-free-agency

Shows how much I actually watch Phoenix.

You don't always see a line with all right hand shots.

Yeah that must be a rare thing. But you definitely see a lot of lines with three lefthanded players.

I can think of a line in the NHL in the western conference with three righthanded players (not sure if it's a regular line but it probably happened often).

I think I know what line you're talking about, all mega stars - two of them are ATD players. They're not together this year, though.

according to the line combinations chart on leftwinglock, he played the majority of his time with XXX (not sure if he's drafted), Boedkker, and Korpikoski, all LW

hockey reference has him listed as an LW this season but, a RW last season...

hockey-reference and hockeydb call Balderis a RH shot, but Chidlovski and wikipedia call him LH. I actually checked because I know that the Soviets generally trained all their players to be LH shots to try to make them interchangeable. But Balderis was something of an individualist in the machine, so I don't know.

Pens top 2 lines are all LH. They've succeeded just fine so far (except for Beau Bennett, who just played on that second line for the first time last night).

Where do the Soviets get off trying to make everyone shoot left?! 99% are born to be inclined to shoot left or right.

Balderis had all the reasons in the world to be rebel with the treatment he received from Tikhonov.I have some infos on Balderis that I will probably share very soon , I'm just trying to figure out something that bugs me before.

Hopefully these infos will help understand the mystery that is Balderis career to some degree.

According to this article, most Canadians shoot left and most Americans shoot right:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/16/sp...efty.html?_r=0

It also says that "for long spells" the Soviets in the 80s didn't have a single right handed shot on the team.

As an American kid in the late 80's/early 90's in the Chicago area I was always a rare LHS on my teams. Even more rare was that I was naturally right handed. Things may have changed by now, but back then lefties were LHS and righties were RHS. My Dad forced me to be a LHS because he knew that's how most Canadiens and Europeans did it.

It's well known that there's a lot more lefthanded hockey players in general.

I don't know how you can ''learn'' to play on your wrong side , I've been trying everytime and I can't stickhandle at all on my wrong side.I can shoot though.
