Has anyone else seen the Islanders commercial on the MSG network "orange blue +you?" Not that I should be surprised that a sports franchise that would acquire a semi-retired goaltender to be able to maintain a required minimum salary cap would produce such a "hacky" tv spot but COME ON, I would expect better from the Long Island Ducks or Long Island Roughriders. It looks as though it was put together in 15 minutes using "windows movie maker" as part of a high school class project. Is there someone that is actually getting paid as a professional that thinks it's "satisfcatory work" to produce a television commercial like that for a major sports franchise? What was the budget on this commercial? Everything about this franchise is bush league and embaressing.
It is pretty embarrassing to have commercials that look like they were made by high school students.
But whatever, I guess its pretty appropriate for this franchise anyway.
And I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but with the technology we have today, there are so many other ways of marketing the team. Facebook, twitter, youtube...most people are finding out their information through the team website. A commercial about the team just has to give you the information they want you to know, not entertain you. Why do you think infomercials are so bad? They just want you to buy something, not entertain you.
Listening to other teams radio broadcasts on the internet I'm envious that teams have long pre game and post game call in shows. There is no place anyone can talk Islanders on NY sports stations.(which is why I'm always listening to stations in Canada, just for the hockey talk).
