Leafs-Islanders Blockbuster

TO TOR: Tavares + Dipietro + Boyes

TO NYI: Kessel + Bozak + Grabovski + Gardiner(or Reilly) + Gunnarson

Leafs overpay to get their #1 centre and a local boy to be the face of the franchise.
Leafs use compliance buyout on Dipietro in the summer (~$24 million actual money).

Isles get depth everywhere. Kessel and Bozak would play with Moulson on Isles top line. Grabo takes #2 centre spot. A premium young offensive defenceman in either Gardiner or Reilly and a shutdown defender in Gunnarson would help out on the Isles blueline.

Huge no thank you from Toronto..

Kessel is just about as valuable as Tavares.. so we add on a good 2 center, a good 3 center, a top d prospect, and a top 4 stay at home d? Also have to take on DiPietros millions?

Could you explain why you'd give up THAT many assets for a true number one center?

Because Toronto is never going to get one otherwise?

No point in dealing a franchise winger, high end 2nd line center, and a potential franchise D in Gardiner/Rielly for him though.

The Leafs lack a franchise player. I thought about the Lindros deal and what it would actually take to pry Tavares from the Islanders.

Actually, I was going to point out how his very proposal speaks to the vital importance of a number one center, which is EXACTLY why the NYI would have zero interest in this trade.

Also, the idea of Kessel even approaching the value of Tavares is preposterous. Tavares in is the top 5 league wide in terms of trade value.

adorable, ignorance at its finest. To the OP, do you seriously believe Wang would make a trade to benefit his team? Taking on cap scares that man to death. I'll just play the season out and see how the guys do rather than make any kind of trade. We will stick to being the team that will "never get a number one center"

Exactly. Now, try to explain why the NYI would like to give up said franchise player. Clearly, you understand their importance.

Lindros is a poor comparison, as Tavares is not refusing to sign in NYI as a rookie.
