For the record 99% no, 1% chance anybody can be traded if you have enough overpayment.
The above IMO, is not chopped liver, but it is not a winning bid.
Winning bid could be
matched L-R first pair Marc Staal + Dan Girardi + NYR 2nd 2013
for
Giroux + Philly 1st (2013 pref, would consider later year up to 4 years hence)
Then trade
Stepan for a D, possibly Stepan + to Phoenix for Yandle
and something around
Brian Boyle
to Chicago for
Dylan Olsen

that allows you to somewhat recover at D
Oh god this made me facepalm.
This would never happen because the Flyers are rivals and because our defense gets totally ruined all for a player we don't need. Richards is a good 1C. Don't move bodies for the sake of moving bodies.
Giroux is a very solid building block... It could take them 5 years to find a #1 C if they move him, maybe longer. Look at how long Toronto, Columbus, Nashville, etc etc have gone without having a legitimate #1 C.
If they want to "rebuild", they should be looking to trade the secondary pieces with good value and the older pieces.
Couturier and B. Schenn look like solid pieces, but its unlikely either become as good as Giroux,

That is a much worse lineup than the one we have now.

Said it would NOT happen but proceeds on assumption anyone can be moved if profitable enough return. Flyers do have to think about this.

respectfully disagree, Yandle comparable w/Staal
acknowledge Girardi >>> than Olsen, but balance of D still not bad.
Besides, this is a franchise caliber C you have to make the move and re-callibrate after

But we could get great use out of him, yes?

Richards is a good 1C.
Still a good 1c, just has more rust to wear off. However, we can't afford to keep him after next year, because of the reduced cap and the emerging salary requirements we will have. He should be moved for the best offer, if he can be moved, aSAP.
If we move him, having a great replacement --- Giroux --- would be desirable, yes.
I wonder what Philly could get for Giroux if they decide to trade him this season. It's not a totally unrealistic possibility, since they've done some crazy things in the past when they performed poorly.
Philly is not trading him . Carter and Richards were known for partying and hurting the team . Giroux is not . He is a team first guy and will be with the flyers for a long time
If the offer was right I'd trade anyone on the Flyers. That being said Snider wont let it happen. They'd just find it embarrassing to trade two captains in two years.
Just for the fun of it ..i would offer Pacioretty + Tinordi + 1st OR Eller + Subban
But Giroux wont be traded.
Flyers aren't suddently a bad team , they're injured and have a bad start thats it
I dont see them even thinking about it. The kid is a massive talent and when a younger guy has a small period of low production, you chalk that up to a slump and plow through it. Unless he has multiple down seasons in a row, there should be no way he is traded unless someone dumped a MASSIVE overpayment for him.
I have said it since about game 2 of the season. There seems to be something wrong with Giroux. Last year he was a devil on the puck wouldn't be pushed off or take no for an answer. This year he is pushed off the puck with almost ease it looks like. I went to two games this year also and sat right behind the tunnel. Kept a close eye on him both times. He wouldn't sit on the bench for long period of times. He would remain standing. Also have seen him hunch over in pain more than a few times this year. Either he has a lower back injury or something with his legs.
The captaincy is not the reason Giroux is struggling.
-Crosby trying to hack off his wrists to the point where both needed surgery and casts.
-He was named Captain.
Which of these things is not like the other?
Let's hope Giroux returns to form soon. It will suck if another great Philadelphia player was dropped from elite status because of injury. It will suck even more if it happened overseas during an NHL lockout. Also, it will almost expertly continue to the captaincy curse in Philadelphia.
Honestly, I hope its just "the captaincy" because players can grow out of that. However, that's like really all that likely as I've demonstrated.
