Goalie can't stop the puck, D outside of Salo and Hedman has been bad outside of the first ten games or so. They are underperforming, too, right now. The forwards aren't defensively responsible enough and lack two-way ability little too much.
Building winner takes time. I think most are happy with he's work, can't blame him. A lot of people won't Boucher fired and Cooper to step in.
Thanks for your intelligent response. I wonder if Stevie Y is driving "the tank" this year. Get a high draft pick after only a few months of subpar hockey.
I expect the Lightning to break out in a year or two.
Tortorella had a nice outburst in his presser...if he coached here, the players would be turtled in the fetal postion.

6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
4-4-2 since the coaching change and 4-2-2 in their last eight. A couple of those Ws are against the SE but they've looked better since letting Ruff go.
Given the shortened season and the completely unforeseeable loss of our #1 dman I don't imagine a bottom 5 finish results in any substantial change -minus the loss of a ppg center that is.
steckel was traded to the clucks for a 7th rounder and some minor league midget...an american version of MP, ryan lasch or something is his name.
hmmmm...wonder if BBQ may in fact drop some sauce on his shirt over the sarge? if steckel can land that return, schultz should get the same or better....

Ducks are a terrible faceoff team, though, so Steckel actually has value to them (as marginal as it may be).
The troubling thing about faceoffs is that they only occur prior to actually playing. So the incremental 10% increase in puck possession still ends up with Steckel playing 100% of the time.
FO% is also sort of a line stat more than an individual stat in some sense. Steckel is 47% in the dot this season. I'm sure it's for his monster offensive prowess.

Right, but he had a wrist injury or something and hasn't taken a ton of faceoffs. I would expect that number to climb, even if the Ducks' wingers aren't doing their part.
