Go Leafs!

Good lord I almost think I want the Rangers to miss the playoffs more than I want the Caps to make it at this point.

Wow. So much fail in NJ right now. I'm going to go ahead and point to the loss of Oates as a major factor.

Maybe last year's Devils team was the aberration, as opposed to the 2010-2011 team.

Losing that Parise fellow might be a factor. That and that their goalies are ancient.

Oh yeah.

You all suck. I'm trying to gloat about Oates, and you're ruining it.

And Kovalchuk has been hurt for a while. But I'm on board with attributing it to the loss of Oates.

Lundqvist gets a shot right into the blocker, but throws up his blocker and live it looked phenomenal, but the replay shows it was just shot into his blocker, but Pang keeps praising it like it was the save of the year.

I don't think he'll view that as a good reason.

Well at least if the Rags make the playoffs, they will tire out the Penguins.

And Nash will elbow Crosby and finally get suspended.

Late to the game on this but...

Does it shock anyone that Shanahan didn't suspend Gubrandson for that dirty hit on Erat?

Last year Ovechkin made a rather innocuous looking hit on Michalaek and got 3 games. The guy didn't even miss a shift.

No suspension for Stepan's reverse headshot to Green. No suspension for Nash on his leaping headshot last week. No suspension for Del Zotto on his reverse elbow to Neal.

I find it silly. Where there is smoke there is fire. Shanahan played for the Rags. Shanahan refused a trade to Washington when he was part of the Whalers and said disparaging things about the Caps.

I wonder what he will do with Volchenkov?

One thing I know FOR SURE about Shanahan: The guy has no moral compass and it would not be beyond him to do something unscrupulous or have bias here. Isn't this the same guy that got traded from St Louis b/c he cheated on a teamates wife? He is an utter ******* in my book and will always be.

We used to call him Shanny the Nanny when I lived in CT and was a diehard Whalers fan. The dude was/is unbearable. Arrogant, condescending, and a whiny brat. Everyone hated him in CT, including his teammates. Demanded a trade after one season. It didn't help that the Whalers traded Chris ****ing Pronger to get him, and that he succeeded an all-time crowd favorite in Pat Verbeek as the Captain. I cannot stand him, never liked him and never will.

Doesnt shock me one bit. Probably why he fit in so well with New York and the rest of the egos there.

Remember who endorsed the Sean Avery trade to NY???

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ho...ticle-1.276878

Birds of a feather...

Shanahan is the guy who endorsed Avery to Rangers' management when Glen Sather was looking for a spark to rouse his team last season. And Shanahan is at the head of a long line of Rangers who are card-carrying members of the Sean Avery fan club.

It's funny you bring that up because I really, really wanted Avery on the Caps. I thought he was exactly the type of agitator that would take the focus away from the Caps young stars. Avery was/is a deuche, but he was very successful in his role.

There is a difference between Hunter and Avery.

Dale Hunter was a dirty player no doubt and did borderline things to get the opponent off their game. But he answered the bell. He stood up for teammates. He was a leader in the locker room. Beloved by teamates and fans alike and was about the nicest guy you could meet.

Avery was an azzhat. A devisive influence in the locker room. He would make fun of Dustin Brown for a lisp he had no control over. His teamates in LA pretty much hated him.

Only the likes of Shanahan can sympathize with his ************* since it takes one to know one.

Agreed. I'm hoping Wilson can be Dale Hunter-esque.
