The Sens fans already have their long list of excuses up. That was expected.

Injuries happen; heck, last year blew up when Reimer went down. We're pretty banged up; but playing through it. Not *****ing and moaning.

The "woe is me" anthem is once again in full force in Ottawa.

Would it help if we pretended our injured players were a bigger loss; due to where we ourselves feel they were supposed to project to play?

Oh man; Gunnar is hurt. He's supposed to be our top defensive defenceman!

Oh no, Frattin is hurt. He's supposed to be our top producer based on shots taken!

Oh no, Reimer is hurt! He's supposed to be our starter!

Oh no, Lupul is hurt; he's supposed to be our best winger!

Oh no, Gardiner is still out; he's supposed to be our best offensive defenseman!

Give me a ****ing break. Hockey is no place for excuses.

No sane person ever bets on the Leafs. You can make money betting against them though.

Love seeing Brown back in the line-up. I don't think that McLaren was playing bad, but doesn't hurt for a shakeup.

Sens should have gooned it up. How can they watch their best player get sliced and do nothing. Islanders did it right last year. Take no **** from bettmans team.

They will have their chance next game, that is until Pitt calls up McIntyre. Engelland, McIntyre and Glass will bully the entire Sens team. It'll be fun to watch Neil run in that one. He won't man up to fight Engelland, wonder what he will do when big Mac comes looking. Sens can't goon up anyone other than the Habs but that's not saying a lot.

With no Spezza or Karlsson, expect one of three situations to occur:

1) Phil snipes a couple.

2) We lose embarrassingly.

3) Scrivens craps the bed with the team playing well, but we still win and everyone claims we should trade for a goalie.

I like our chances in this one , as without Spezza and Karlsson the Sens are definitely beatable.

I think the line "injuries happen" can only be used at a certain point. If you lose a center that was 4th in scoring last year, and a Norris Trophy defenseman (along with a 35 goal scorer and a top four defenseman), I think it's a legit excuse. Teams can only do so much. At this point, none of the Leafs players are really even close to that status besides maybe Lupul. That was my point.

But anyhow, let's get past this, and enjoy the game tonight. It will be boring from the Sens behalf, so the Leafs better make it interesting.

EDIT: In the end, this Sens team could beat the Leafs, or the Leafs could just as easily beat a fully healthy Sens team. That's how unpredictable this league is.

Reimer is our starter, I don't care if you like him, when a team loses a starting goalie it hurts the team more than anything. Thisis amplified when Benny boy is the backup. Claiming Cowen as a top 4 dman just shows your lack of depth on the back end. Sens fans have a habit of over valuing him. Injuries are part of the game that's all their is to it.

I won't lie, I'm sick of the pre-game ceremonies, too.

Opening night is one thing... And a ceremony for a recently retired Leaf great (Sundin) is understandable... But I've had enough of the rest of it.

Maybe I'm just a young whipper-snapper who doesn't appreciate the past. I do, really. But it's old after the 437th time.

Sens top two lines tonight: 1. Erik Condra - Kyle Turris - Jakob Silfverberg; 2. Mika Zibanejad - Stephane Da Costa - Daniel Alfredsson
If we don't win, we will never hear the end of it from Sens fans. And Leaf board might crash.
