Basically they are now certain that this injury ruined his top 5 chances, and now he is borderline top 15, and some are even thinking he is going to have tough time being even the 1st round...what the **** are they smoking? Wish I had account there, so I could give some input, but that place seems to be very inbred, I have tried to apply there twice but no success...
I'm sticking to what I've been saying for months: Barkov will be drafted in the top 10, that is the most likely option. This injury doesn't change that. Whether he will be picked in the top 5 is anybody's guess, but if I had to make one, I'd say he will go between 4th and 7th.

Ristolainen will probably go in the 1st round as well, but I don't see him going before Barkov and he might even fall somewhere between 20th and 30th.

And the Barkov dropping in the standings because of his injury discussion continues...just see the draft 2013 threads of various teams on these boards, Colorado, Edmonton, Columbus, etc. everyone magically assuming now that Barkov is injured he SURELY is dropping in the draft. ****ing ridiculous.

Dude, who cares. Getting drafted 1st overall or with the last pick available in the draft, it doesn't matter. Just ask Hornqvist and he'll tell you.

As long as he's expected to recover completely I'm sure this won't affect his draft stock at all. Last draft we saw Galchenyuk and Rielly go 3rd and 5th overall despite missing almost their entire draft seasons with fairly serious injuries, while Barkov played basically the whole year, and played very well. Scouts/GMs will basically ignore this unless it's a type of injury that is likely to cause nagging problems in the future.

I don't think it will drop his stocks but because he is injured he can't rise them either in wch and playoffs. I don't see him drop outside top 5 even if other prospects impress in spring.

Someone at Jatkoaika says he'll be out for 6 months, but I'm not buying that without official confirmation.

You probably won't get one until Tappara's season is over. Jatkoaika is THE source for actual leaked information these days though unlike the mainstream sports media so it might turn out to be true as well. The post in question: http://keskustelu.jatkoaika.com/show...6&postcount=19

But yes.. unless it's torn labrum or rotator cuff, I don't see it affecting his draft position at all. And even then not by much imo.

Missing those few games means basically nothing.

Scouts and NHL teams don't care what you can do in FEL finals or U-18s.

They care about your abilities and potential and they haven't gone anywhere.

Some think Risto will go before Barkov?

Well I might be deadly wrong but I believe when I see it and not a second later.
If Risto falls far enough, he'll be a Leaf. A mobile, physical, right handed defenseman is what we need. He has solid top 4 potential, and good offensive upside.

He would be the best D pick-up for TO.

Torn labrum, I guess.

The good thing is those heel pretty well, they just take time.

Not falling out of the top 5. Not a chance. He's one of 4 guys in the top tier of prospects this year.

6 months? Essentially would be week or so late to training camp.

Too bad. Would have been great to see him bring the Kanada Bowl back to Tampere.
I don't think this will affect his draft position negatively.

I don't think it will hurt him in the draft, he will still go top 5. Hurts his chances to make a case for top 3 though.

There is playoffs going so I don't buy any information what they are offering about their key players before this season is over.

Yes he got hurt, but this is hockey.

YLE reports that Barkov probably needs surgery and the operation will be done this week or early next week. Tappara's doctor says the injury's a very typical one for a dislocated shoulder and that it's not a serious injury. He estimates that Barkov will be able to practice again sometime early summer. Will post the link when I get home.

You know we're joking right? I mean I can't speak for othe teams but the Oilers fans aren't even close to drafting him. We're just hoping by some miracle (like Fowler) that he drops. Almost a 0% chance it actually happens.

It remains to see if he can be at the combine in full condition. It isn't serious injury and the recovery time seems to be 2 months. He misses rest of the playoffs and WHC which is shame but most important thing is that the injury won't be career threatening. But will this affect on his draft position? Not a chance.

Esko Seppänen, a Finnish hockey journalist just tweeted that Barkov's shoulder needs surgery and he's out about 5 months. His source is Petri Seppä (@SeppaPetri on twitter), who's also a journalist.

E: Whoops, didn't see Gaps' post. Oh well.

E2: Not his hand, his shoulder.

It doesn't matter if he falls or not, the question is... Is this guy good? Looks like below average player to me. Finnish hockey is pretty much dead these days... you guys should cheer for our beloved neighbours instead.

From his doctors interview it is likely that he can start practicing at beginning of the summer. He is about 2 months out. Don't know where they have pulled this 5 months.

I'm guessing the 5 months is a worst-case scenario, but I'm more inclined to believe what Tappara's team doctor says than a tabloid that deliberately dramatizes things.
